Mike,

My car has just gone into Scoobyclinic with a subsequent engine failure - I think it may be a piston. The bottom end is supposedly STi Version III (as fitted by Central Subaru).

I know this info is not much use to you right know, but depending on what way we decided to go with the repair (potential 2.5 block) I guess the heads could be available. I would like to get confirmation that they are STi III as advised by Central.

If they are what you're looking for and are available, I'll let you know (hopefully by the end of this week).

No probs... just been reading a thread on 2.5 ltr conversions - they may retain the heads & also cost of converting 2.5 could be a major factor, so we'll see what The Gaffer (and others) advise is my best and most cost effective option.

Cheers,

Kev

Mike555,

Bad news I'm afraid - it appears the engine fitted to my car was an extremely poorly built standard engine not STi ver III as advised. So no heads I'm afraid - sorry to get your hopes up. I just need to sort this mess out now.

Thanks Mike,

We now have an STi II RA lined up to go in over the next couple of weeks - that should be fun, especially once mapped. I'll keep an ear to the ground for STi heads for ya!

I'm collecting my car today (just 7 days after taking it in). I will try to remember to ask if they have any STi heads there or know the best place to source them.
