Max Speed as far as I understand 03 buckets do not have air bags fitted they are a delete option when bucket seats are chosen from the factory. This only applies to euro, jap spec cars and not uk official dealer supplied cars. As said before I already have two park benches fitted to car with air bags attached ie I already own a WRX 03 model uk supplied. I was at Powerstation last week and they do Ian Lichfields pdi work on his euro import cars and I saw two 03 WRX with bucket seats without the side air bags and it's these seats that I am after.

You have got no chance of getting them, you are correct in that the proper seats are only available in Europe and Japan, the main reason i didnt swap my MY01 for an 03 was the seats which are terrible.
You might be better off getting a complete 01-02 interior or an STi type including door cards and changing the lot.

John, these are for sale on eBay (US)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33701&item=2448363 308
the point I was trying to make was that the '03 buckets (as above) whilst looking to all intents and purposes the same as the '02 buckets offer less support, as the squab is much flatter in shape ie you sit on it rather than in it, as you do on a '02 seat
