Mike: Out of curiosity as I'm not planning to buy one (well, not at the moment
), what weight reduction do you get from fitting an ally bonnet?

£535.80 brand new (inc VAT). You will rarely find them at a breakers as to end up in a breakers, this is one of the items that is usually damaged.
Drop me a line if you don't think that is silly money.

Mike,
Again out of interest. Is there an aluminium bonnet available for an STi3 ?.
If folk are after weight reduction at a decent price wht doesn't someone make a fibreglass copy available - just a thought.

Not just the price Firefox, how much does the damn thing weigh???!!!!
I'm interested in finding out how much of a difference a lightweight bonnet will make to the acceleration.

Yep, not sure of the weight of a UK bonnet, but there is a noticeable difference. We too can source/supply Carbon fibre bonnets, up to and including 2000 MY.

I find that as well as a lightweight bonnet. If you have a dump before getting into the car, and drive just in your underpants , this increases the cars performance no end.
