Default 6 speed gearbox and bits required

Wel its 4 weeks b4 christmas and i thought that this year i was going to get away scott free with nothing happening ! how WRONG was i . My nice new spanky shiny gearbox i bought of subaru has again gone **** up again for the second time. £2.5K down the toilet .

Maybe its the 2.5 i am running at about 355bhp that causing it ?, i have been told standard scoobie boxes cant take that amount of hp. So i am looking for a 6 speed box from an sti as these are much stronger taking up to 400bhp so i have been lead to belive. Please advice me if i am wrong ! i cant afford anymore mistakes. So i want a box .prop, and diff. Its a uk car so if the gearbox is from a uk car i take it i dont require the diff? will my existing flywheel and clutch fit? Anyway cash waiting or can anyone put me intouch with someone that can help supply me these bits.

paul

It is not bhp that kills the 5 speeder, it is torque and driver attitude!
1
Torque:
Seems that the 5 speeder will tolerate about 350 380 lbft (mine has for 2 years road and track)(Sti v3 transmission)
The 6 speeder will tolerate a lot lot more, over 450/500 from what I've read.
2
Driver attitude:
Don't change gear without the clutch when hammering it and it will last!

A 6 speeder 'kit' is needed

Box/rear Diff (unless you have the right ratio already)
Shift linkage/gearstick
Propshaft

The unit is very very heavy so beware delivery charge and installation effort!

18 months ago a friend bought the above (non dccd) for £1400 delivered on a plallet from a good breaker.
It has been perfect using a heathy 2.2 engine and racing slicks.

Hope this helps.
