Are you running an induction kit? these normally last a fair time before dying.

Hi Tony, yes a HKS. The engine wont rev up with the brand new (4 months old) one, so i tried my old MAF back on and it revs up but irrattic idle. The irrattic idle was why i got a new one. I was hoping to be back on the road today as I use my scoob every day to get to work.
A new HKS triple layer foam filter was installed same time as new MAF.

Thanks Tony.

I would ditch the HKS induction kit......99 mafs are prone to failing but should last longer than 4 months.

Alternative is to go mafless on these years, i.e. with simtek.

Or go back to standard airbox if possible to give the MAF a bit easier life, but they're a bit prone to failure anyway, and definitely more prone with induction kits.

Or you could get a z32 maf and have it mapped to suit.....

Ive never had any problems with K+N cone filters and also Apexi seem a popular choice....Powertec do a completely dry stainless kit that i have heard good things about.

It is important to get the induction kit fitted well and have it fixed with the correct brackets as vibration is also a destroyer of my99 mafs

Thanks very much for the input rooferman, some interesting points there that i will look into.

pooeater, thankyou for the offer but its a bit far, although would you be interested in sending one (or both if they are surplus to you) down to me, price to be arranged etc, as it would be a good idea to have some spares for future use.

Thanks fellas.
