What year car? I have a V3/4 manifold that has been profesionally converted using a Carl Davey manifold wedge. I used Carls welder as he does such a great job. £110 delivered in the UK

just flip it round and fit that Carl Davey wedge?

what about the accelerator cable and coilpack, those will have to be fitted round the other way... bit of a fiddle or easily done with the right tools etc?

just flip it around no wedge needed just a 45degree elbow off the throttle body, throttle cable fits the same as it does std the cable just runs at the rear of the engine thats all coil pack fits on on the other side it just needs rotating around so its still firing the correct cylinders you just swap the ht leads from 1 side to the other so there the correct lengh again

only fabricating work is to the alternator bracket you need to chop off the top mounting points to the air con pump so the alternator will flip over it should only take 5 mins then you need to knock up a simple tension system for the alternator belt simple really

Ah Matty you're a star!

I've removed my air con pump already... doesnt someone do a relocation bracket for the alternator? Also will need a longer/shorter alternator belt?

I should really have this thread in the tech section lol.

Carl Davey does alt flip brackets

One thing about rotating the inlet - is the side with the turbo entry pipe not higher than the other? If you rotate is there enough clearance to get an inlet pipe under?

I too have been thinking of this - just for looking jazzy lol

I've got mainfold spacers on there already so that should help the inlet tract fit under once flipped round.

You obviously need a different belt as the stock alternator belt wont fit... where would I get hold of a replacement belt and tensioner?

belt size depends on pullies just use some rope around the pullies and messure any motor place sell 5 pk by the lengh you need i think its around 1175mm of the top of my head on std pullies but double check the tensioner knock some simple brackets up and use a old idler from a cambelt kit to use as the pully

no probs mate i think i have some pics of my type r nos junkies was 1 of my early setups that was done on a budget of around 40/50 quid if i remember well it depends how much you want to spend but if it works it works the inlet is tight on them but with some spacers and some more time it could ahve been made bigger easy but only had 2 short days to do all that also rotated the turbo housing on this 1 to reduce the pipe work even more

here my type r again not a costing a great deal around 100 quid with the heat wrap and other materals

version 8 msti alot bigger budget and time scale tho

all pics are std inlets no spacers at all hope that helps

Carl Davey makes prob the best reverse alternator bracket available as a direct fit item. I have the older style one on my car some pics below. These are pics of the car a couple of years ago before i went rotated, the intercooler pipework and turbo pipe work is obviously a lot different now.

Chris couple of pics of the inlet I used when i had the 20G it was under a phase 1 manifolt with i think 20mm spacers.

Very nice, I also want to relocate my power steering res... Is it just a case of using a newage res?

Altho I have my ABS situated in that spot and there's this other thing I cant quite figure out what it is... like a black cylindrical thing with pipes coming off it.

I'd like rid of it if its redundant but guessing it must have some effect on the engine? Or maybe I'd need a remap if I remove it if it is all to do with gas air mix...??

that will be the charcoal canister

mine was removed meny years ago and the pipes capped off

but while we are on the subject one of the pipes i believe to be a tank breather which is capped off also

does anyone know if this will cause any long term problems

Ah right thank you... I'll do away with it then

In that space I'd relocate the power steering res I think

To relocate the PS resevoir the cheapest way is to get hold of a new age pump and bracket (get the pump and bracket together as the brackets change slightly between different years only the spacing for the holes to mount the pump to the bracket). Also get the remote resevoir bottle and bracket and the lines from the rack to the pump and bottle and from the pump to the bottle. This should cost around £100 - £120. All you then need to do is go to pirtek and get them to fit a banjo fitting to the line that attaches to the top of the pump. I had my hose lengthened a little because of how i routed it, that cost £25.
