Question

I will be in the market for a 99/2000 UK Turbo from mid August, and have been looking both private and trade, there are currently some very nice low mileage ones at various dealerships, My questions is these examples are priced around £17k, and bearing in mind I can buy a new import (albeit the new model - which is not what I want) for about £16.5k, what kind on offer do you think I should make (cash) that a dealer might be tempted to take ? obviously this is a bit of a mine field and all dealers will vary, just hoping someone on here has gone down this road.
I just hate to think that a dealer could be selling a car for £17k which the week before he's just purchased (possibly from one of you) for little more than £13K.

I saved 1.5k on the screen price by paying cash with no part-ex to trade in. Also got them to respray the front bumper.

Its a buyers market

Thumbs up

I'd say you'd be better off buying one one here with the prices dealers are charging. They are putting 2-3k onto cars they buy. If you buy one on here with warranty remaining and full SSH you are buying the same thing...

What about actively seeking a European import 2nd hand. I have a standard MY00 imported from Holland and if I was selling a realistic price would be about 12000 pounds - much cheaper than a UK model but it did only cost 15000 new

Wink

I saved £1700 off the screen price of a 10k Scooby last year by paying cash and no part exchange.. and a bit of negotiation..

Get them to there minimum they seem willing to go and then say at that price you'd have to go away and think about it.. many will then say well home much for you to make the decision now?

Also you can try playing on a little lie like "My mate wrote one off and only got paid X amount so I am not willing to pay more than that etc.."

Good hunting.
