Blob STi or WRX Wanted
around £6000-6500 to spend, or upto £4000 to 4500 for a WRX
Would prefer one with a few mods
Ideally 75k miles or under

your's is smart aswell bud, but ideally only want to spend upto 4.5k on a wrx as I have other plans if I had a wrx over an STi which I probably wouldn't do much too if I had one over a wrx

on a limited budget, for the car. £6.5k is really all I have to buy/mod the car to how I want then its a case of just having to fix it when it goes wrong and maintain it.
If I went for an STi I wouldn't bother with the ideas I had planned

well I wasn't really planning on going over 300bhp to begin with, as originally I was planning on getting a wrx and going for looks/visual mods over performance, as I was planning on lowering the car fairly low which would most likely ruin most of the performance/handling side of things
but at 6k I wouldn't be able to get the respray that I wanted, also ive read into the rokker coilovers, apparently sister company of raceland, so id be fussy and end up wanting to replace those aswell.
It is a nice car jake and if it was cheaper id of probably been interested

How much cheaper?
Lol Go for what's right for you
I read mixed reviews on the rokkors too, but to be honest I'm very pleasantly surprised by them, car grips endlessly now after the alignment and ride is fine
My target was 350,and makes a fantastic road car at this power level, still useable as a daily car if needed and still goes bloody well!

That's the reason I bought a wrx,got a mint car in my price range, and not a haggered sti.
Also I fully well knew I was going to mod over time and upgrade most parts the Sti has better than the Sti
I'm far from trying to make you buy mine, but a wrx is still a very capable car! Especially at the power targets you want/aiming for

well I missed out on a cheap STi, was ideal for what I needed, but sold day before I had chance to look at it, it was only since then I considered looking for one. Downside is for £6500 what ever mods the STi had it would pretty much stay that way

If you plan to mod and not go over 350bhp then the WRX makes perfect sense with your budget.
From a modders perspective the only aspect that makes the STI better is the 6 speed's ability to take more power, but you really want an 04 onwards for guaranteed gearbox reliability, because you'll change pretty much everything else (see tubbs car as a perfect example).
But this is also dependant on how far you want to go.
A nice clean low miles WRX is better and a lot cheaper than a knackered STI.
But it is a waiting game and the odd decent cheap STI does come up, there was one for £5k a week or so ago, and they definitely come up inside your budget, just buy the best example of either you can find.
