Second had clutches and flywheels are a false economy given the time it takes to do it all over again if the secondhand parts aren't good the first time around.
Brand new and complete clutch kits are just £234 (Exedy OEM) and £399 (Exedy Racing Organic).
Flywheels are £299 for lightweight forged units, complete with the required spigot bearing.

Take for example, my last car had a Exedy Twin Plate which was brand new 2500 miles before TOTB this year, I raced both days at Elvington putting around 20-30 launches on the clutch, and then sold the clutch on for half its initial purchase price, which for the buyer is great news.
The clutch was mint, there was no ill sign of wear, and the actual clutch plates were practically as new. the guy who bought this clutch is pleased as punch, and I know it will serve him well in his track car. In hindsight I should have kept the clutch, but me being me I was having a good old clear out and sold pretty much everything I had of Subaru in the garage to make room.
If I could buy a clutch similar to my comments above Id be very pleased, but as you rightly pointed out its a bit of a mine field. By me purchasing the OS Giken which turned out to be knackered, has in no way cost me more money in garage fees, I'm simplying still looking, and I'm sure Paypal will resolve the issue.
I can see why you would want everyone to buy new, its your business to try and ensure everyone thinks this way, and if money was no object then I would also be buying new, but as things are at the moment, I'm trying to get the car where I want it on a piddly budget, and that's only because I could do without the ear ache from the mrs when she asks where the Xmas/Holiday funds are

Meanwhile my car is off the road, and I'm driving around in a classic that the garage (aka speedflash) lent me, Top bloke
Have you had first hand/passanger experience of the "Carbonetics Triple plated carbon " clutches? What do they drive like on the road?

My friend ordered one for his Evo I think he got it direct from japan,it wasn't the triple plate Though it was there carbon 4 puck paddle clutch so single disc and one of there carbonetics fly wheels,I took a drive of it when he first got it fitted and to be honest I was expecting a snatchy hard pressured clutch, but I was wrong as the peddle feel was just a little more stiffer then the mitsubishi O.E clutch it drove nice for a paddle clutch.SJ.
I think I might just either bite the bullet and buy a new ACT, or wait for Brian to remove the clutch from his car for me...
