Apologise for having a lack of knowledge......but I was reading an earlier message (posted 25 May) about '**** in an xr2i' and the 'Headlight spray trick' was mentioned a few times...what exactly is this trick?

I have just noticed the message is in the wrong forum, please move if required. Sorry

When someone is too close behind you, press the headlamp washer button - gives them a nice spray onto their windscreen

Best done at speed, but quite effective at 30mph

The Best I've found it works best, is at 60 - 75 mph.

Unhappy

My wifes idea of a headlight spray trick is to say "What does this button do?" and press when the car was stationary.

I was not impressed with the white bubbly solution all over the newly polished bonnet

Had my first proper go with this today. Ford Focus about 5 yards behind at 70mph. Quick squirt and he's backing off, wipers going. Fantastic...

Sad to say, but my WRX doesn't have headlamp washers either, so unable to enjoy the sqirty fun practiced by you lot,

However, I suppose I could try spitting out of the (open) window

D'ya think it'll work as well the washers?
(I wont try until its confirmed, and at safe speeds!)

Tried it today when some idiot in an rs turbo was sat 2 inches from my bumper even though he knew I was trying to overtake the lorry in front!! Oh how I laughed when I saw his face in my rear view mirror!

I used to have an Astra GTE. One of the heahlight washers got knocked off the front and resulted in a jet water 10-15 feet firing at high pressure from the front of the car. To get a better result I blocked up the O/S washer so that the pavement side had more pressure. The hours of fun I had with this. I could adjust the aim before going out - crotch high or open window high. Pedestrian crossings were best - anyone caught crossing a little late got a soaking! I could do 20 people at the bus stop. Someone dared cut me up - I'd manage to get alongside at the next set of lights and fire it through their open window as the lights changed - The number of times I nearly crashed through uncontrolable laughter!
If you a feeling a bit down - buy a GTE and mod the headlight washer - you'll never feel down again.

Hi Colin - new wheels are cool, had a very sedate drive back from Worcester yesterday.

Just got to get them doctored a bit by Mr C then we'll fly

We'll be at the Essex meet on the 17th if you are around.
