Agree with druddle, M40 is the way to go. Depending on where you are going to, you can exit at Banbury and head up towards Coventry. I can not remember the road number, but it's a great road to drive.

I travel to a village just north of Banbury every weekend and almost always take the M40 - though to be fair that is for no other reason than the M40 is easier to get on from my starting point.
Nimbus - If you wan't to get Coventry from the Banbury exit follow the the A423 signposted to Southam, then Coventry is signposted from Southam.

Or if your going to cov.. just take the coventry exit on the M40 , Junction 15 or 16??
M40 is the best way to go.. no cameras.. hardly any police and theres always a scooby around to go in convoy with
