Any car is nickable if they get your keys!

Maybe MetaSat should allow unlimited texts for your annual subscription, Then you can activate the Metasat immobiliser every night, then if they get the keys they still aint going anywhere.

Hope you get it back soon, thats if you want it back.

Not sure, the manual mentions user settings like speed limit / alert, maintenance on / off and status / location. Rest are messages they send like alarm battery removed ( which I had ), alarm activated etc.

Really sorry to hear that Neil.

Same thing happened to a friend of mine twelve months ago, I'd picked mine up on the Friday and the following Wednesday he came around to say his had gone in the night. They posted someone small in through a window and took both sets of keys. They found it in Liverpool, just sitting there waiting to see if the Police came for it before moving it on.

Cheers Mark. These comments do help get over it for some reason, good old Scooby community, really p'd off earlier.....
Yeah, me, wife and kids asleep when they broke in via patio and rummaged around until they found the main key by my wallet / mobile phone / house keys - which they left ... and spare key in drawer below... which went. Disabled tracker a few miles away as it texted me to say alarm battery removed, then died.

Wonder if they would have come up to the bedroom with baseball bats and crowbars if they couldn't find keys?
They broke in via patio door smashing off the handle and removing the lock barrel ( now replaced with way better quality security rated handles and barrels and dead bolts! ) and went through lounge drawers, hall and kitchen until they found the keys - left by my wallet with cash and cards, house keys, mobile phone, they just took both keys and went out by side door to garage and took car.

Paul, Cheers mate.
Police, Subaru dealer and the ISR people when reporting it and they looked it up - all gasped and said .... Ohh dear, it was an impreza, thats why it's gone! It will be hiding for a few days then out of the country ... none expect it back, even if I wanted it back now .....

Maybe STi 330S then ... dealers are getting further away...

Neil
My mate traded his in as soon as he got it back, it was one of the WR blue ones in CN, with the fog lights. He went for a Mazda, don't think he's had the same problem since.

Good luck with whatever you go for.

Paul.

horrible *******s!!! you are probably right though if it is stolen to order then its better they dont disturb you for what they want. a fella by me was woken up with a gun in his face for his rs4, he just handed them over. cant say i blame him, me and my missus have argued about this before today cos she says she would throw the keys to them and i would attempt to stop them. gotta say though she is right.

Absolutely gutted for you Neil, at least they found what they wanted without a fuss. I suppose these experiences kind of put things into perspective - it doesn't bear thinking about if they couldn't find the keys, etc, etc

Hope it turns up gathering dust in a side road in the next few days, rather than disappearing without a trace - unless you'd rather not see it again.

What happens if it doesn't turn up - have the insurers told you what they'll do?

Insurers have all the details - had an hour interview this am !!

They will cross check details with police etc. and agree the next step.
This will pass to the motor engineer for valuation ( less excess ) and I'll be informed in next week or two what they propose / how much they will offer. Then settle shortl;y after that.

Of course it depends on if car found during that time...

Any idea of current value of July 08 STi hatchback, 9700 miles approx?

You might find that your policy has a 'new for old' clause in it for cars less than 12 months old - so you get a new car if it is not found. It's sometimes called a new car replacement clause. Depends on your insurance companies policy but worth asking them to check.

Definitely check this out, the majority of policies have this - mine was written off when only 9 months old & new for old applied, but they only confirmed this after I asked a couple of times...

Hmmm, interesting Ian / Midi I looked at the insurance company website and their blurb pushing their policies did say

"

New car replacement if the car is under 12 months old, and you are the first registered keeper

"

Although it did also say there were conditions applying to the benefits and features advertised... I'll contact the company shortly or at least when they provide an offer with this nugget of info!

Cheers

Ta Andy - you had car just stolen or burglary/taken?
