P1 & RB5 Derby area
#1
Spotted a couple of beuties in Derby area several times.
P1 with 18" gold Prodrives & monster tail pipe - you waved at me yesterday. I was in my STi3 4 door in white. Just purchased last week.
Also there's a de-badged RB5 kicking about with large tail pipe.
You know who you are...

Hi there Nick...welcome to scoobynet and subaru ownership.
I seem to remember a red MK IV supra now there is another dark grey supra turbo on pride park with a lovely big exhaust... I hope I was well behaved
Best thing to do is keep an eye on the midlands events section. All local meets get published in there. We do a monthly meet with the Derby RS Owners club - scooby attendance seems down at the moment - I think some are too snobby to hang with the ford crowd LOL
Yep the exhaust is a big one (oo-er) I'd previously had Scoobysport and Blitz stuff on my other scoobs - but the HKS seems the straightest free flowing 3" system there is... plus it looks evil
See you about
Ian.

Sounds like me
It's an STI - RB5s are merely the same colour
Remember seeing you in the Supra when you were sitting behind Ian near Pride Park - I was on the opposite side of the road and was having a bit of a chinwag with Ian - and you were sitting behind him with the biggest cheesey grin I've seen dunno what was going off in your car

Sorry about the mistake, Craig. I should have known it was an STi. Nice car, looks smart de-badged. Have you been through Oakwood area as I may have seen you pulling out of shopping precinct?
Tell you what, guys. I've had a few days off work to take my car for some runs. If you haven't already tried it, get youselves up the M6 to Macclesfield. From there take the Road to Buxton. What a road!!!! There's a pub called The Cat and Fiddle at the top for good grub.
I nearly lost it around a sharp left but, fortunately, there was a lane off the bend heading straight on... Phewwww!!
Got back home to find a stone had gone through one of the PIAAs!
£43.00 + VAT for one lense!! I'm getting some covers, quick!
See you around. What year is the Silver STi Lozza?
Nick

Cat and Fiddle is a mental road - be very careful up there - extremely fast motorbikes and even quicker police helicopters
The normal drive from Ashbourne to Buxton is pretty stunning too.
You could also try Buxton to Sheffield via the back loads - quite a few nice switchback corners.
Now don't go and prang it !!!!
Ian
PS: How do you find the handling after the MKiV ?

Hi Ian,
I only had the Supra for 7 months. The handling was great. You wouldn't think so but it was good fun around islands in the wet. Very controllable oversteer - though I wouldn't fancy trying it at high speeds. I loved that car but hated trying to park it in stingey narrow spaces. In traffic I was always concious of it's width and long bonnet. Plus I felt like a 'pimp!'
I wanted an Impreza for years especially after hiring an STi 5 Type-R for a day back in '99. I last checked insurance about 3 years back and decided I couldn't justify the cost, hence the Supra last year. I was gutted when I later found that I was paying over 100 quid more for the Supra than an STi. So after Xmas I started looking.
The handling is very sharp, I'm trying to find a suitable 'location' to nudge the rear out. It seems very neutral at the moment although I have experienced mild understeer. Its probably me not being used to it, but hey, thats whats great about these cars... Pushing to the limit (if one can find it).
Do you know of anywhere who will colour code my skirts and make a nice job of painting/fitting my 3-piece front splitter? I also fancy a boost gauge mounted on the A-pillar...

your so right about the cat un' fiddle - bloddy great fun, done it on my bike a few times but there's police speed traps everywhere , plus i've heard (on the grape vine) about alot of locals being a bit pi**ed off with the noise/traffic and took matters into their own hands with 'substances' on the road, you'll probably get away with it in your car but bikes are another matter. best bet is a day off work, a tank full of petrol and a few 'laps' mid-week
just a bit of info for you

Hi there,
The P1 would have been me
I figured you hadn't had it long as you were grinning like a fool
As for the grey car - it could have been CraigH - its a grey STI V with the same monster HKS Hyper exhaust as mine

Hi Ian
Your P1 looks amazing. You've done a good job with the wheels & exhaust - I don't normally like large-diameter pipes but they seem to suit the performance jap cars a treat!
I spotted you a couple of months back near Pride Park. I was behind you in my red Supra.
I bought a STI 4 type-R front splitter yesterday and will be getting it painted/fitted soon.
Do you know of any local meetings in the near future?
Nick
