Default WYIOC - Pre & Post Meeting Comments/Musings

After the last meet, there were a few comments as to the posting speed and eventual size of the monthly pre-meeting threads, as they... well... tend to digress

So, due to people;
  1. Not having proper jobs and posting 'quite a lot'
  2. Having proper jobs and not being able to spend 6 days reading 13 pages to get to the interesting bits
I propose this area where we can comment on pre & post meeting happenings and generally... ramble a bit in order to keep the main threads generally free from... ramble.

My money's on this overtaking the Hull Boys post count by Feb 12th 2005.

Mods: This is not a Muppet thread..... honest. It may look that way from time to time.. but it's actually all very high brow and intelligent.. just like the posters....... Ok that last bit was pushing it a bit.. but you know what I mean..

Nope, not broken Al, you can see the tumbleweed blowing through like on the meet thread

Over a day gone by and not a comment from HB - he normally stalks my posts and anything more than 5 mins for a reply is unheard of...

Sticky hasn't ridden him into the ground on one of their sessions, has he?

Could they both be lost? We may have to send out a WYIOC search party.

We'll obviously stick to the good bendy roads. Find a pub. Quick bite and another good road out.

If there's enough of us, we may just spot them if we can drop below 80 for a bit. You look left and I'll look right. This last one might be a bit tricky at 'drive out' speeds so let's hope they're lying near the road....

Can't say we never tried. Eh?

Careful Andy.... We were both OK, but I don't rate Dazza's chances for a few days....

Should have seen us this morning mate....

Daz and I spent most of the time off the bikes, while Sticky lived up to his name up to his ankles (or was it axles?) in mud.....

Deffo mate!!

We did mention you in the context of biking this morn... As in, "we could use Dave here right now... He could lie in that puddle so we don't get our tyres dirty..." Or similar...

Not sure if we were all doin' the same thing Daz.....

Anyway, how did you manage to get that pic of 'Sticky'? He wasn't still and/or mud-free for long enough... (Calling Apple for alternative interpretation)....

just been through the theory tests on the DSA site - 2 lots of 35 questions to do in 40 mins per set, 30 to pass.

got 30/35 in first lot (scraped it ) and 35/35 in second lot but that's sat in front of the pc rather than in the heat of battle...

how many puffin & toucan crossings have you seen round here as these are what threw me?

Sodding failed for doing things I'd been taught but not needed as per examiner

Said I was doing 35 a couple of times in 30 but I corrected it each time. Wouldn't let me use road angel to get true speed but then says that when they were in the force, used to calculate true speed of cars with radar and then drive over limit according to speedo so true speed was correct, i.e. 56 on speedo means true 50 in 50 limit - fecking doube standards

Said I was getting accelerator surge - you try to touch the gas pedal from being on overrun to keep 27mph (true speed = 30 on clock) and not get a slight surge in a scoob...

Also, don't need to use all the road width to get better views so no need to hang out and keep in on bends at low speed - you try that one round the sharp corner at Newmiller Dam...

There's a couple of other minor bits but words may have to be had at the next skill-check session

Your's hacked offly and going to carry on to prove a point / nail the person...

Dual standards as you say mate - sorry to hear about this. Best thing to do is red line it everywhere for the next two weeks.... Might not help, but it'll make you feel better!

Sorry to hear that mate...

We did talk about the nature of some of the examniners... some can be a bit... picky.. (with a silent R)..

The Road Angel appears to be a bone of contention.. unfortunately it will take them 78 years, 47 meetings and a national vote to decide they need more time to look at the technology... They don't like change and the organisation is littered with relics who are doing it by the book, because they had to go through it..

I was probably lucky geting an Ex-met instructor who really enjoyed passing on the knowledge and understood that 60 in a 40 COULD be justified in some safety cases... This showed vision, tolerance and flexibility.. maybe missing in your examiner?

When's the retest?
