WYIOC - New Home
After several weeks of uncertainty, discussion and debate, several pubs were checked out last night. Many thanks to Steph & Paul, Dave & Helen, Chris, Apple and all the others who put in lots of effort, time and miles to make some excellent suggestions.
The short list was checked out last night in a great series of short drives...
The winner was 'The Foxglove'
(if anyone can find a better picture - I'd be grateful)
Address: The Foxglove - 36a Penistone Rd Kirkburton - HD8 0PQ - 01484 602101
Directions: Directly on the A629, Penistone Road, out of Huddersfield. For those who came to the Fenay Bridge, it's a mile or so South past that on the right...
From the Evo Mag website.... 'Sam Kidd, who runs The Foxglove at Kirkburton, West Yorks, said: "We have 23 bedrooms and keep two for tired drivers. We're happy for people simply to arrive, take a nap, use the tea and coffee, read the papers and freshen up." The chain's two-week initiative was inspired by the Government's 'Don't Drive Tired' campaign'.. Cool
This month's meet will be held here at 7:30. We will endeavour to get the parking spaces on the right as you enter.
Mini-Convoys from the Holmfield Arms (Wakefield) & The Brickworks (Drighlington) will be arranged for those needing help finding the place or just a good drive in..
These details will be published on the Venue thread and I'll do a post in Northern..
Cheers!

Is the last pic the "Big Brother Watching paint Dry" competition?
Or should it be a caption competition? A starter could be "WTF are you on about again, Al?"
I see the place was "heaving" or had the combined might of WYIOC's finest scared the rest off?
For the newbies, the date of the next meeting is...?

Andy - a damn sight busier than the other gaffs we went into. And it was nearly closing time....
Al will be posting a new thread up for the next meeting date....
And the caption for the last pic is.....
'After a tense final round, the international judges in the Brummie of the Year Competition reach their verdict'

No, no. I remember is clearly. I asked the question.. 'Well, what's the decision?'
The blank stares confirm that this difficult question clearly caught them napping and they waited for me to tell them...
It actually was busy, but there's plenty of nooks and crannies and the main dining area was to the right of that Picture.. me and Andy were simply holding the bar up.. Plus it was about 11pm.. AND, Chris has a knack of taking pics at particularly inopportune moments.. this was just after and before smiles and laughter all round
The date? Barry helped.. but seeing as you're a newbie the Sticky venue thread has all the details mate..

1. we were supposed to move house on the 30th June but didn't and I am now waiting to find out if we are gonna exchange today in which case we will be moving next Friday the 15th so it's all been a bit hectic
&
2. towards the end of last week and most of this week my throat looked something like this and I can assure you I am exceptionally narky/stroppy/miserable when I'm not feeling well, so in order to avoid upsetting one and all decided to stay away
Fear not though, I'm all better now and raring to go with my life long companion book 'The Little Book of Abuse', and with you and this book in mind Chris, I quote, ahem 'I don't know what your problem is but I bet it's hard to pronounce'

To give people some idea of where it is, here's a quick map....
...or MULTIMAP
There are plenty of enjoyable routes, the main ones being the A636 Denby Dale Road from J.39 M1 and over Emley Moor (no sCams ), and the old Holmfield run along the A642 through Lepton. You could venture down the M62 and come through Huddersfield town centre, but I don't know why you would.
Is the girl in the green top a regular feature I wonder
Don't tell CG

The above post will shortly be vaped on grounds of looking ever so slightly p'nographic.
Make no wonder you have a sore throat. Have you given any consideration to the fact that removing the camera might help somewhat?
...as for captions, well, we weren't exavtly given the best shots in the world to work with, so the best I can do is..
Trouble once again broke out at the Invisible Man Association AGM, and a massive brawl ensued, caught on camera here by Chris
Poor, I know, but look at what we had to work with

Chris's lecture on 'Turbo Dynamics under high boost pressure vortices and turbine enduced high velocity eddy currents with extreme leading edge anti-spiralling null nodes' had em on the edge of their desks..

Lucky?
BTW, totally off topic, but said a fond farewell to my nearest and dearest today. We'd not been together that long, but she certainly knew how to put a smile on my face, and made all the right noises when it mattered. I'll be looking to get a replacement when I've got over our separation, probably one that's a little less 'high maintenance', but for the time being at least, it's a case of fond memories and thoughts of what might have been.
Never mind, plenty more fish in the sea...
