Mobile Scamera??

Mobile Scamera??
Driving down Armley Road down to the Giratory yesterday when to my horror saw a blue Volvo estate with the back up and a camera in the back, with West Yorkshire's finest sat in the front reading a paper. Is this a mobile speed camera or perhaps (as I hope and pray) it was looking for car tax evaders / other deviants?
I checked the list of mobile sites on West Yorkshire Police's website and it wasn't listed - anyone any ideas? Do they need to have a guy operating them or not as he was happily reading his paper in the front??
On the way in to work just now there was also a police car with the back up filming out of the back - luckily it was fully marked and had a red light flashing on the top so know I'm in the clear with that one.
Nervous times at scg towers.

[QUOTE=corradoboy]You forget to mention the large park, golf course and cemetery alongside, the countless sidestreets, particularly on the outbound side, the fire station (now unused), the parades of shops and several schools very nearby, the pedestrian crossings, traffic light junctions and fast food outlets QUOTE]
Dave - are we talking about the same stretch of road? The 'incident' (or not as the case may be) was in the direction from Mike's Carpets - Armley Giratory the 2 lane stretch being from the Esso station to the Giratory. Haven't noticed any of the above especially golf course. There seems to be quite a bit of thunder on West Yorks Police about auto number plate recognition so I've got to hope it was this.
Am really annoyed at myself though as I'd just had 4 days of great fun on some tremendous roads in the lakes and didn't really need the buzz.

Simon, the bit you're on about is pretty much a dual carriageway, devoid of dangers from pedestrians, schoolbrats and such. At that end it was probably ANPR looking for tax dodgers and wanted vehicles. The bit I was refering to is 1/2 a mile further up above the Living World animal cruelty shop leading to Bramley. My brother was nearly caught on there recently, but had the foresight to do a runner up some sidestreet. Never got a NIP, so a good move
