TRACK DAY TYRES
My other half is very kindly treating me to a track half day on the 25th at Elvington and I've decided to use my own car. I have in my posession a spare set of wheels for use as track day wheels but alas no tyres
More importantly funds are very lacking so has anybody got any idea how I can get some tyres either very cheaply or preferably for free?

Try asking at a local tyre fitters if they would put you a set of used tyres aside if they get hold of any.
They might be willing to do it cos they have to pay to get rid of em now and someone will have already paid when they got the new ones put on as part of the price.
It's worth a go let me know what they say cos I've got a set of track day wheels.

Phoned MSW yesterday and after getting past the intital confusion of them thinking I wanted to buy some track tyres ( how much?) they seemed happy enough, pop down and we'll have a look through the pile for you he said.
So popped down there today at lunchtime as I didn't have time yesterday only to find out the man has been this morning to collect all the old tyres (81 of em )
However as I don't need them until the 25th he seemed pretty sure they'd have some by then and has taken my name and number, so I'll just have to wait and see.

Update
Not looking good, MSW haven't had anything in
It's looking like I'm gonna have to buy some new ones unless some incredibly kind and generous individual would like to lend me a set of track day wheels with tyres for the day, I'm sure I could find something to offer in return

What day do you need them for?
Edit . . read the top post
You can possibly borrow the wheels off mine, if I still have it, then give me them back once you've worn 'em down a bit more . . sure the dealer taking mine in p/ex won't mind
Will have to check with the dealers first to see when my car is actually going!

Mine are 215/40/17
Anyone know for sure if the new age ones will fit?

Looks like someone is smiling on me, MSW have called me this afternoon to say they have some 205/45/17 off of a Mini which they assure me will be fine to fit, they those run flat tyres too not sure if that's good or bad though
What the hell they're free, just gotta pay for fitting

To give you a rough idea, I paid £20 quid for all four doing which included fitting, valves & balancing cos I told them It didn't matter about taking care with the wheels as they are already scratched to hell. This was at kwik fit on hunslet road.

The guy I spoke to down there is called Alan, I mentioned to him that I had posted on here and there might be a couple of other people interested. He didn't seem overly keen at first unfortunately but he did conceed that if it was only a few and he had plenty of notice (he mentioned 3 months actually) then it should be alright.
So if anybody else needs some and isn't in a hurry for em it might be worth giving him a call and being very nice to him
