Thieving Scum
At around 2030-2100 last night some thieving scum buckets entered my house, they stole various small items from my back room including my briefcase with all my project work for the last six months.
They also took my house keys and locked the back door on there departure, beleive this or not all this while I sat in the front room, It had only been around 30 40 mins since I was last in the kitchen (through back room) I never heard a single thing. To be honest I would never of known they had been in there but I was just on my way out to my girlfriends and when i tried to get out of the door it was locked, initially I was frustrated because I could not find the keys to unlock it, knowing fullwell they were in the kitchen!!
I then looked out of the kitchen window to find the front end of my subaru was missing, I dropped everything ran to the back window, yes low and behold the car had gone from the garden. I tore through the house out of the front door and ran through the ginnel to the back of the house. I was full of anger and I mean anger pure rage, and there she was 300 yards down the back street abandoned with doors open and lights still on, thank god for CAT 1's and some of my own electrickery nuff said. Thank god i never leave car keys accessable in the house
The car was in a right state all the interior dash pulled to bits to get away with my kenwood, the rear seats pulled out to try and get to rear speakers (complete tw@ts) sealed rear on the jdm wrx..
In a last resort to not leave completely unsatisfied with there thieving scum rat infested life styles, they launched a brick through the front winscreen, and snapped the full centre badge out of the grill..
Yeah I know the car still here but no consolation trust me, I am furious, and left with a huge mess to sort out including house locks.
Police response..
Bare in my mind my house was left unlocked at the front while I stood in a pitch black alley with a car, thiefs could of returned at any time either to house that was unlocked and they have the keys for, or to car where i Stood alone with iron bar.
Initially the police came within the hour 50 mins they were really understanding called crime scene out to print the house then they call a company out to tow car to there soco premises, for drying off and full fingerprint and dna test's, I was in awe at this and there efforts to catch the culprits.
Then when the police organised recovery guy comes out he starts to tell me what i will be charged for the police's request £150 tow £150 for return plus £12 a day for any duration while they had the car in storage.
I obviously said no no no, This is not for the victim to pay its a police request to aid in the capture of the criminals, The police walked away came back after speaking to the sargent and said sorry your liable for all cost's. I said well forget it I am not paying those cost's at your request, At no point did they tell me this would be at my cost they were actually as shocked as i was when this came to light. I told them I could not and would not pay and asked if I could now recover my vehicle, to which replied there seems no point to delay it any futher if I was not accepting the cost's
I jumped in the car and got it pushed back to my house and in the garden,
The police then knocked on my door told me they were taking the car under instruction of there duty sargant, and if I refused I would be arrested. I said you can gladly take the car if you sign to say you will cover all cost involved, they then said you will do as requested and if the sargent has to come out you will be arrested.
I told them if you arrest me my daughter will be left in the house alone the criminals have got keys to my home and the car is not yet secured, this fell on deaf ears andy said once again they need the car and it would be at my cost.
At this stage I asked a witness to listen to what was being said by the police officers and explained the predicament about house security my daughters well being, and the fact that I could not pay what was being asked and ultimately would of ended up in court for non payment of the recovery guys fee's (at the police request 300yds from home to elsmall) and in addition an ever growing £12 a day till it was rectified, After the I asked the witness to listen to what the police where preaching to me, and his response that this was completely unjust, given i am the victim, the police officers once again walked away to speak to there sargent on ther return thay said its not an issue and they no longer require my car or compliance, This is the sugar coated version the police really did speak to my like dirt.. sorry for the grammar know its hard to get through but am still furious......

Bloody Hell Mick
Those coppers need a good kicking but not half as much as the scum that did the deed. No consolation, but it could have been much worse. Screens are easily replaced, as is interior trim. At least they didn't have a go at every panel, or torch it The thought of them being in your house will haunt you for a while though, the tw@ts
Hope you and your daughter are OK
Next mod, a bloody big dog

Totally and utterly at a loss what to say.
The fact that they stole all the stuff was bad enough, but then to leg a brick through the windscreen in spite is absolutely beyond belief.
And as for the Police's reaction.....words fail me. I would get yourself typing a letter to the Chief Constable, councillor and MP. A disgrace.
The sad thing is even if they caught the low life who did this they probably wouldn't go down, in fact they'd probably get a fine less than what you'd have had to pay for the car to be towed!!!!
Can't begin to imagine how depressed I'd be in your situation.
I hope it doesn't mean you'll get rid of the yellow beauty?

Mick. My shock is of little consequence. I will happily do anything to help.
These theiving low life scum deserve no air time or response. They are just that... Scum.
The Police reaction was confusing.. they were threatening to arrest you for not releasing evidence.. that bit's simple.. but to do it in such a way to a victim, whilst telling you you had to pay the £300+ was crazy and insensitive.. They seemed as confused and as in the dark as you. But nothing excuses the way they spoke and treated you..
I hope this does not put off such a special bloke and car from attending the meets. Again.. if there is anything I, or the club can do, then just ask.

Mate, what can I say about your ordeal that hasn`t been said by others ?
IMO, the Police should`ve been able to do the fingerprints back at your place, as long as you could keep the interior dry, or, at the very least, the recovery costs should`ve been fully explained beforehand, so that you could make the decision as to whether you wanted to proceed with it, or not.
Hope you get it sorted mate, good luck.

Mick, really sorry/gutted to hear this M8, the car is absolutely gorgeous & it shows how pond life can't just admire & respect but have to have without the effort required of reasonable human beings to work hard for posessions.
The double whammy of the post incident stress out is just the pits, but in view of some of the stories I get relayed to me 1st hand by a member of the SYPD I'm not surprised really.
Two things:
1. Don't let the b'stards win. Get big locks on the house (we did), get a dog or at least signs that say you've got one, etc etc, but keep the car you love & use the damage as an excuse to do a couple of mods whilst it's being sorted!
2. If you need a hand, whether it be lifts to get stuff or owt really just ask, if I'm free I'll help.
Steve

What can I say,
I am humbled by the comments and offers of help guys thanks very much Steve Al.
All the coments both here and general do sympathise with me regards this attempted theft. this makes me feel a little just in my own opinion, and my gutted bottom of the barrel mood.
As most you know I have spent a fortune on this classic to try and get it reasonably fast and unique in its appearence. every item on it is declared to the insurers hence an excess of £600, this puts me in a quandry as although the damage is mostly interior cosmetics and of course the windshield, claiming puts me out of pocket,
My initial thoughts are to cut loose the scooby lifestyle and get shut, such is my dissapointment at the moment, but this is possibly just cause i am on a downer with the whole experiance, police attitude to boot.Truly its not like I was loud mouthed chav telling them how it was.
the witness to the events spoke to a senior member of a specialist police division, who could not believe what they did and said given it was there lack of knowledge that caused all the unwarranted grief,
When you report a car stolen, you really dont expect the police to be knocking on your door at 0130 telling you to do as your told or we will arrest you!! When the initial error was theres by calling the recovery team out to take the car back to soco. They really did preach to me like I was some sort of drunken convict absolutely vile experiance,
i have been advised to book an appointment with a duty officer not at the station that handled the call, and tell them what went off as the actions were simply not law abiding. The fact is if they had arrested me they would of been liable to a civil suit been rasied against them, any ways thats for another time and probably best not to slander the police department.
Have not even touched the car today really can't be arsed to tackle it, spent all last week tidying the wiring up from the blitz TT and sterio only to have the lot ripped out including all the centre consol gear surround and lower dash, have not even opened the back doors, just a quick glance at the back seat ripped out, then shut the door and locked it up....
complete scum out for kicks, ffs thats my pride and joy. I bid on it in an auction in Sasouka then imported it and then as you know spent a little bit of money on the way to moddington, only to have some inbreds try and take it without the cost, and then attempt to spoil it because they did not get to drive a car they could only steel to have.
Anyways, once again guys thanks for the support kind words and gesture's

Mick, listen mate, DO NOT get rid of your pride and joy, because if you do, the scum have really won then, haven`t they ?
I`m only speaking from experience mate, as, a few years ago, I had a high-powered bike stolen from my garage, when they came through the bloody roof FFS, and then removed my garage door bolts from the inside.
I, too, felt like packing it all in at the time, but it`s like anything mate, tomorrow`s another day an` all that, and you will start to feel better about it.
Perhaps some sort of car cover may assist. I know it doesn`t stop them taking it, obviously, but, you`ll find that a lot of these scumbags are just cruising the area to see what they can see parked on a driveway, and then come back later to get it, but if it`s covered, and doesn`t attract their attention in the first place, they you may be able to avoid it happening again.
My personal opinion BTW, for what it`s worth, is that the same crew won`t be back for it again, as they probably realise that you have extra security on it anyway, which stopped them getting it away first time around.
Anyway mate, keep yer chin up, and don`t let the b`stards grind you down, AND KEEP THE SCOOB !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Only just seen this Mick.
Dunno what to say, but I have an idea how you might be feeling, having had four cars nicked in the past, one of them a classic.
Please don't get rid. As Dave said, if anything use it as an excuse for a few more mods, but do not let the *******s deprive you of your enjoyment of the marque.
One addition which may well have prevented any of this in the first place (I know hinsight is a wonderful thing) would be an alarm with a proximity sensor, such as a Clifford Concept. If anyone comes within a few feet of ours the alarm lets out a chirp, which not only warns the ***** that it's protected, but also alerts you to the fact that someone's mooching around. It has proved it's worth on more than one occasion, and as soon as they hear the sound the other security systems start barking their heads off. I'd love to see how the scum would react to three Dobies heading their way at speed
Once again, gutted for you mate, but don't let it put an end to ownership.
As for the Ecilop's response. No comment

From: If you rev it, they will come!
I just can't f****** believe it, I'm literally stunned and absolutely gutted for you mate and I'm actually at a bit of a loss as to what to say really, I just can't believe this has happened to such a genuine and decent person.
I remember speaking to you the other week and you were mentioning about the additional security and how long it takes you to sort it all out whenever you park up and start off again, I bet you're bloody glad you did it all now though.
When mine was stolen earlier this year I remember how f***** off I was about it, at first you just can't believe it has happened and it really does make you think about ownership of a Scooby but then I remember how angry I felt and how that anger made me want to get another. Because why should I let these scum dictate how I live my life, in fact the more I though about it the more determined I was to get another one but this time with more security so I could sit there and say to them, f*** you. You haven't stopped me, I've just replaced what I had and this will be bigger and better and you're gonna have no f****** chance of stealing this one and you'll just have to carry on in your own little low life sad life always wanting but never having what I've got, you're not beating me, no f******* way!!
I know it's not easy at the minute mate but you absolutely have to keep it, get it sorted, as has been said above we're all willing to help in anyway we can, then you can stand proud and say to the scum, f*** you, I'm not beaten and I never will be by the likes of you!

As I mentioned to John, yesterday Mick, I'll have a skeg @ the log when I get back to work. Just wondered who turned up and more importantly who was pulling the puppet strings over the airwaves....
I'll let you know if I get anywhere.
Just for info:
whenever a vehicle is to be recovered, it will ALWAYS be at the owner's expense, its just that insurance normally covers it. The officers SHOULD (and I must emphasise that) have informed you before they even called the recovery firm out. The fact they didn't - well, god only knows, but the eventual way they treated you beggars belief.... I'm embarrassed mate. I really am. Glad I'm not out on the streets any more. *sigh*
Give me a call if I can help any more.
Steve.

Thanks very much Steve
Really am still struggling to come to terms with it all mate, the fact the thiefs coming into my house was bad enough let alone trying to steal and damaging the car,
The police officers or should I say the sargent who was instructing them to arrest me really did finish me off. If the police had called a recovery team out to simply recover my vehicle because it was not drivable or in a dangerous obstuctice position then fair be it, fully expect that to be at my or my insurers cost. given my car was only 300yds away from my garden in a deserted back street the revovery was not required.
But the fact they called the recovery team out to get my car took to the police investigation depot (soco? there decsion completely) for printing and dna testing, without my knowledge of my liabilty for these cost beggers belief.
They sent another officer out to print my house without any charge guess I am lucky they did not charge me petrol money for that.
I really would think twice about calling the police out again seriously!!
I mean really what is the point.
They did not check the surrounding area for evidance or even knock on doors to see if any one had seen anything. The very next morning first thing (in daylight) me and my brother (John) went and roughly tracked the theifs tracks, 5ft away from the car were the latex gloves
(through a huge hole in the fence leading to the park thank god i did not let it go to soco for printing) half way down the street behind a skip was my brief case opened and full of mud but none the less there.
Thank god all my course work 6months worth for my nvq3 cim course still there just muddy. You really would think the police would of done this, well to be fair you would of thought the police would of took all the details of missing items, in an hope they would turn up, I told them my mag light had gone from the house, and they did not even ask what colour it was ??? But hey they did threaten to arrest me and like said if they had just looked through the hole in the fence where the car was abandoned they would of found latex gloves, and made the finger printing less of a priorty.
rant off....
Thanks again steve any info will be valuable, I have the badge numbers of the two attending's

I've only just spotted this post, Mick. Sorry to hear about what happened, it's a lovely Scooby and the idea that some pr*ck can attempt to steal it then have the cheek to try and trash it is beyond belief. We really do have some d*ckheads in this country.
Hope everything is sorted by now anyway.

Police response
Especially with a young child in the house, they do act like complete morons sometimes, then they wonder why people get arsy with 'em
As for the low life parasitic creatures that did it, I hope one day when they are grown up and they have something that they cherish someone does the same to them
It's a shame to see something of such beauty reduced to this but with another load of care and effort it could be restored to its former glory.
If you need interior parts give www.scoobybits.co.uk a try they have plenty of stuff lying around, they are in rotherham.
Good Luck
