what specs engine mate? (other than 2.5 lol)

 

It's a complete custom job from the ground up by Scoobymania. (In the centre of Nottingham)

The engine bay is mint - everything is "in it's proper place" with neat cables and custom pipe work.

Mike Tuckwood (main dude) is your man for the exact specs.

Fab job with total ownership of the project from start to finish (e.g. blue-printing to run-in/niggle fixes). Can't say enough about how good they are...

So, you'll be using the Micra for day-to-day driving then, and this just for tracks?

 

No mate - the Micra hire car went back today (yea!) - I've got Tom's WR1 for 2 weeks

Will just have to tread carefully over winter in the new beast after that

What ECU?

 

Given everything you've had to go through over the years I really appreciate the comment mate. It's one of the reasons I went with Scoobymania rather than try anything myself. They've really built it all within tolerance and with a keen eye for longevity.

It's one of the new range of GEMS ECUs with Steve Simpson as the mapper. Anti-lag switch built in too

What gearbox you using? Std?

 

Yup. Had to change the clutch tho. Did'nt fancy trying (or buying!) a racing clutch for everyday use so have got a hi torque/halfway house clutch instead. Much stiffer than the normal one but much stronger and not too expensive...

It's very driveable as both a road car and track car - exactly what I asked for. If I go down the "track only" route later, I'll get it stripped and a roll cage fitted first and then look at what next (including a sequential racing gearbox)

Yup - it's running a GT35 - the engine has been done to make enough room for the Garret Turbo range so I can go down or up the scale in future.

Nice peice of kit - I looked it over before it was fitted. Mike's running an even bigger one in his with more power but mine is better for everyday driving i.e. less turbo lag.

I'm really impressed by the way they've listened to exactly what I wanted it for - makes a refreshing change from most dealerships. Let's not even talk about the 3 letter dealership of retards in Wortley.

 

So now the CS is gone, you'll have a bit of spare cash for when you start modding this one...

 

Well the plan was to use the CS through summer whilst the Scoob was being done. The plan was working perfectly until it went in for a service at TCJ and it all went for cr@p after that...

I'm just going to run the Scoob for a while until Spring - if it's the best of both worlds (road/track) I'll stick with it alone. If it's more road then the CS fund is waiting in the wings

 

And the chorus from the rest of us - "We're in the wrong job!"

 

It's not just that mate. It's taken nearly 10 years as a startup with 3 people to get to the size we have now but more importantly, it's the fact I'm nearly 40 with no major other hobbies and no kids!!

Road trip The 'Ring, Autobahn blast down to Austria/Switzerland, into Italy for the Stelvio, head west through the big tunnel under the Alps into France and on to the Millau Bridge, Le Mans and Riems on the way home, at some speed

When are we going and will I have a Scoob by then (silly question, of course I will I could sell my turds easier)

 

My own intention is to go sometime in April/May. I have to get my car finished before then though .

Having been in the MG, it was an absolute blast, and is worth going just for the cars that frequent the place.
