Default Pipeline Card

Have you registered yet?

It's in this Months Evo and there's a SNET Thread Here

Seems a No Brainer to me and worth a go if it'll save 10p a litre

Pipelinecard Site http://www.pipelinecard.org/

Check it out and register. Looks like this might be going live next year and is basically a people power card whereby if the 10's of thousands of people buy their fuel from one major supplier then there's a potential discount of 10p Litre...

It's the mother of all group buys!

Fed up paying ridiculous petrol prices? Save money with a free Pipeline Card!

All those involved in the oil business are getting their cut from the inflated prices we’re paying on the forecourts – the oil-well owners, refineries, filling stations. On top of that, the government siphons off nearly 70p per litre in tax.
These organisations behave as if petrol and diesel were luxury goods, and driving was a pastime. We are not ‘motorists’ as the media like to call us. We are teachers, nurses, professional and business people, parents. We drive because we have to.
Strength in numbers

There are nearly 32 million of us in the UK. If a large number of us banded together and chose to give our custom to one major forecourt chain, we could negotiate a substantial discount for ourselves. Pipeline was established to achieve that and we are well on our way to success.
Our target

We have already secured agreement in principle from a major fuel retailer so we need lots more members to achieve enough big buyer status and clout to make this work on a national basis. We need you – and your friends and your work colleagues - to join with us in order to win a substantial reduction in forecourt prices.
Act now!

It costs absolutely nothing to join, but by joining Pipeline today you strengthen our clout as well as making yourself eligible to buy fuel at a discount. By telling other drivers about this website you can make that happen sooner – and do them a favour into the bargain."

Pipeline Card FAQ

How much could I save?

We expect to be able to offer our members a discount of between 5p and 10p a litre.
What's the catch?

There isn't one. Really. There is no charge for membership and the cards will be issued free.
Are you going to sell the data / spam us / generally abuse our data?

We are not in the spam business. Please see our Privacy Policy.
How can I unsubscribe?

Send an email to unsubscribe@pipelinecard.org.
Will I be able to get discounted petrol in my local area?

We are currently negotiating with a major national fuel retailer so we expect to be able to offer cheaper petrol and diesel in most parts of the UK. This will include Northern Ireland and most of mainland Scotland.
Will discounts apply to diesel/autogas(LPG)?

We will offer discounts on petrol - including super unleaded - and diesel. We may be able to include LPG(Autogas) but that will depend on our numbers and the level of demand.
When will I receive my Pipeline Card?

That depends on how soon we reach our target membership figure. We need to strike a balance between maximising our numbers to increase the discount and working to an acceptable timescale. If registrations continue at their present rate we will be able to start issuing cards in the Spring.
How many members have you got now?

As of the beginning of December, Pipeline had just under 50,000 registered members. Word is getting around and that number is growing very quickly.
Who is behind Pipeline Card?

Pipeline was set up by motorist and car enthusiast Ben Scammell who has been campaigning actively for a reduction in fuel duty for many years.
Is there a limit on membership numbers?

Not at the moment - the more the merrier. Numbers may have to be capped at a later stage but, for now, there are no limits.

Hello,

My name is Ben Scammell, and I am the person behind Pipeline Card.

If you have any questions please feel free to email me on ben@pipelinecard.org.

Thanks for your support, it's going really well now! If things carry on the way they are going, we are hoping to launch in the Spring.

Thanks

Ben

Question

Nice one Ben. Just a couple of thoughts from myself and others I have told about the Pipeline card..
  • Any news on the exact membership figures the supplier wants?
  • you say that the discount has allready been negotiated but the site doesnt say what it is.
  • fleet fuel cards work like a credit card a bunkering company agrees to buy x gallons of fuel a month.
  • the drivers buy the fuel from the card company. and the petrol co. only has to bill one company
  • pipeline are suggesting it will work like a discount card and you pay at the till as per usual? Nectar card type thing?
  • If we are paying for fuel at the till how do PipeLine admin intend to get any revenue from it? Or is it all a "for the people, by the people" type thing? Ie: a non profit organisation?
  • why would any petrol company want to give any discount we are allready their existing customers paying the full price?
