Lightbulb Saw this on Gadget Show - If we all install it we can phone each other for free

http://www.skype.com/helloagain.html

Download, register and use, simple as. Free calls between other Skype users. I thought it could be useful if you know someone is online (ie. on here) and you needed to chat in person, but for no money

Someone already had my SNet username so if anyone wants me it's "corrado_boy".

There is a conference facility on there too, pretty soon we can hold mid month gatherings on skype just getting everyone online no I am not been serious but the application for the club could have some value.

You can use any mic and speakers connected to the PC. I'm using the built in ones in my lappy, and Mick is using what's built into his webcam, so you might not need to buy headsets or anything.

Conference calls could make meets a thing of the past

Tried it on mi PDA, and it works fine with PPC 2002, but they haven't engineered it yet for Windows Mobile 5....

So, it's back to Orange and the new SPV m5000...

Phil & guys - what sort of headset/interface you using...? Last time I tried Skype (about 9 months ago at Dazza's insistence), the delay/latency was truly cr*p.....

I have been using Skype for 3 months now at work and it is quite good although sometimes the quality of the calls can be a bit hit or miss - sometimes good sometimes its awful.

We have suppliers in the states and when we ring them it costs nowt, i'm sure it will catch on!

To receive calls it costs $30 a year. calls to normal landlines is the same and obviosuly Skype to Skype is free

My thoughts exactly when I tried it at the start of the year. 10 meg NTL connection is helping things along now though....

Just found out, you can list your Skype contact details on your Scoobynet User Profile now It shows in your public profile under "instant messaging" and when clicked opens up options to call, IM etc

It also sticks an unsightly red cross in a white box below your user name and throws the whole page off balance

...but then I'm using one of those inferior PC things, aren't I?
