Thursday 29th Dec - Daylight Xmas Run
As suggested on another thread, who fancies a run out during daylight hours on thursday 29th instead of/as well as our usual night meet ?
Possible route could include North Yorks Moors, Yorkshire Dales or the Cat & Fiddle.
Would 10.30am be too early

CLICKY to the York guys thread on a run out.
They're proposing wednesday, which I can't do as I'll be at w*rk 'til 6am on overtime and probably doing very little and I have a prior engagement that evening

So Thursday then?
May I suggest a couple of options...
Dales, using Dave's almost **** knowledge of the place to find a nice cosy pubelic house somewhere for lunch.
or...
Whitby, doing a run which is much used by the Evo guys from Lancer-evo.net. A trip over the moors, through the scenic village of Goathland (Aidensfield) then on to Whitby for som fish and chips, and back to Pickering for a nice pub gathering.
Just a thought

I'm back at work Wednesday thru Friday so an early start is out for me.. What I should hopefully be able to do is finish after Lunch..
Two options.. The early start is a little later or I meet up with you lot at 1:30 ish....
If the consensus is go early, then crack on.. cos today I can't guarantee that I'll be off after lunch... I'll have more of an idea tomorrow..

So who's making the final decision then, assuming this is still going ahead?
Are we gonna make some firm plans, or just meet up somewhere locally and take it from there? A mystery tour by the guy who leads perhaps?
Can't see a problem with the above, so long as everyone has each other's mobile numbers in case we get split up.
Then Al can call one of us when he gets out of work, find out where we are, and decide wheter he wants to meet up with us or not.
At the mo it's looking like...
CB
SCG
Me
(Big turnout, eh?)
Malham, anyone?

We can pass Malham, on the way to Settle... blah blah blah (route removed just in case anyone dodgy is reading ) blah blah.... for a blast down to Blubberhouses for a pint with the bikers.
Or we could go to Whitby, but I don't know all the roads up there.

Are we going to set a time, will Mr C be accompanying? One of my mates should also pop along 'depending on the weather' so with Chris666 too, should be a cosy little trip out

Mr C will be attending..
IF I get out of work in the afternoon..
IF you lot aren't 200 miles away and a 2 hour trip through Leeds to get to you.
IF the Weather's OK..
Easier for you to make your plans, I'll tag along and join up.... don't you worry about me.. I'll be at work keeping your money safe.. No.. really I'll be fine.. sat in front of my computer.. eagerly fighting off all thoise baddes wanting to steal your Identity, money and life.. I'll be bruised, battered and worn.. but victorious.. all for you.. Just have a toast for 'Security boy Al'.. I'll be OK..

Al, if we head for The Sun Inn at Blubberhouses on the A59 we should be there for 1.30pm if we have a 10.30am start. From your house, if you go up the M1, A1 and use the A661 through Wetherby and Harrogate onto the A59 it is 60 miles, or one hour. If you can get out by 1pm you'll be with us in time for the second shandy, food and the reverse run

One has to question the sensibility of a run in the prevailing weather conditions. The Dales roads aren't exactly brimming with traffic and gritting is a bit hit & miss.
Do we all still want to do this

Trouble at t' mill
Helens Corrado decided its clutch wasn't working on Boxing Day. Narrowed it down to the slave cylinder which I tried to fit today. Simple job, 2 bolts and a pipe to disconnect. Only the pipe didn't want to disconnect and rounded So, new pipe at dealers 8.30am tomorrow. Did some further investigating and it looks like it's the master cylinder too That arrives 9am at the motor factors.
So, on top of a Ŗ170 bill, I have to fit these parts between 9.30 and 10.30am if I am to lead you guys on this run in driving snow and arctic sub-zero conditions along ungritted narrow lightly used country lanes at high speed. It doesn't look promising. Option 2 is to let Helen go to work in the Scoob on friday and I fix hers then
Sorry to let you down guys, but I don't think it's possible. Unless we put the start time back to lunchtime, but who knows if I'll be done by then

Ok it's looking like a no-go then. Probably makes sense to be honest. Up to -10 centrigrade tonight with it being 0 at best tomorrow so can't see ice melting. Still pollen count will be low
If it's a no-go maybe we could organise a saturday / sunday outing in near future to catch some daylight.

What we need here is a positive & decisive decision. A born leader of men with a keen, positive mind who knows no fear of Icy, ungritted roads. Where driving snow is laughed at and icy hairpin bends are taken with defiant aplomb....
Anyone?

Right, as Sticky has made it very clear that he would like this to go ahead we have to choose. Brave the weather with a delayed start of around 12-ish, still allowing 3 1/2 hours or so of daylight, or postpone until a better time. New Years Day is on a Sunday, meaning Monday the 2nd is a Bank Holiday where not too many people will be working. The forecast is for the temperature rising to a heady 4-6ēc and rain showers. Does this sound agreeable
