Default Wheel spacers

Okay I've posted this in the Wheels section and have had no replies after 4 days so some advice if anyone has any experience....

My trackday wheels actually turned up (on the Monday after trackday ) put one on for size on Saturday and low and behold it's touching the Brembos (great). Having been 18" and coming off a 52 Sti (or so the guy said) I'd have thought they'd have been fine.

So Wheel Spacers - not an ideal solution, but is it a definite no-no? I'll only ever have these wheels on, on a trackday but that's obviously when they'll be under most strain. Are longer bolts also an absolute must (I'm guessing the spacers will be about 4 or 5 mms (?)) or will I get away with the existing ones?

Any advice warmly welcomed.

Hi mate

sorry to here about the wheel fit

I've no experiance with wheel spacers on the Impreza, but back in my Escort days longer wheel studs where a must!! more so if being driven hard.

But that does not necessarily mean its the same with a scoob, I am really suprised 18's wont fit around brembo's if they came of a 52 plate

What make of wheels are they ? and do you know the full dimension and offset. I recently bought a set of 18's on a group buy on SN, one of the moderators organised this and I am happy to call him a friend, he may be able to help out here with will they, won't they, but I will need the size

I know this does not help you out Si

Sorry

I've just checked the group buy thread, and the nominal size from bug eye-> on is 18x8x48-offset

This said only certian wheels in these dimension are designed to fit over brembo's.

I really find it difficult to offer advice, as you will be using them for track days and the enthusiatic driving style associated with.

Personally I would want them to fit perfectly without the aid of add on's, after all the last place you want to test spacers and stud lengths out is the track.

I think my vote would be, No-No, sell them on and spend the time between now and the next event to get some that will fit as good as OM's

Mick

Don't know what the "H2" bit means, but the critical figure is the "ET". Due to the Brembo's Scoob wheels are a little awkward to most other makes with IIRC a ET45-53 offset. As Mick said, the physical shape of the spokes can be important too.

Wheel spacers can be OK if they are up to 3mm, but any wider will require longer bolts. These can be had from Demon Tweeks et al.
