Alton cars only got authorisation today!! Bloody underwriters!!
I would like to say that Alton cars have been stars. Ian (manager) has been on the phone ringing, chasing and kicking the asessors and various people in the chain and he's kept me informed every step of the way.
Unfortunately the assessor had a small coronary at the cost of the Spec C rear wing, splitter and headlight and this prompted them to check on whether I'd declared the options.
A-Plan were also stars and I'd like to thank Mathew from the claims department on keeping me fret free and constantly telling me that the insurance, and car, were exactly as stated.
I'm assuming the underwriters were looking for the smallest get out clause as Ian said he'd never had such problems before on claims far in excess of this...
Upshot is the boys at Alton have been chomping at the bit to get it fixed as all the bits were ordered and arrived within a week or so.. Even the MD had told them to go ahead before authorisation, but they had to stop as it looked as though they could have spent all the money on repairs only to see it all lost and wasted as they wouldn't be able to get their money back... £1200 for single headlight anyone????
Anyway, they've started today and it should be ready in a week to 10 days... which was the original estimate.. 3 1/2 weeks ago...
Summary is... A-Plan and especially Alton cars have been great.. Highly reccomended..

Where does £1200 for a headlight come from The guy who cooked his whilst doing a detango paid IRO £200. I know you have HID's, but they can be retro fitted to any OE unit for a couple of hundred, I think And aren't the carbon wings about half the price of the OE STi wings Did the same parts suppliers get the contract to do Wembley too
Glad it's coming to a close and things have gone the right way though.

Don't forget this is an import and the HID's are special to type (no pun intended).. Something about massive voltages to start the gas discharge process. He paid £1200.
I think Litchfield said the wings were £450?? and the splitter about £350?..
So £2k for three smallish parts probably makes their eyes water and search for either a way out or cheraper OE options....

I wonder how much they'll bump your premium next year They'll be desperate to recover some of that £450 for a wing That's daylight robbery. The parts guy at a VAG garage once told me the TT front wings were £66, just after he'd priced up a new doorskin (note :- SKIN) for the Corrado at £795.
Anyway, back on topic.....

He slip streamed it for the 60 foot time, then pulled out to pass it, but the Scammel hit the nitrous at the same time and they crossed the line together...
