All those using portable ones please ensure you remove them and lock them up, so far I know of 2 people who have had thier items stolen from the car in minutes, by breaking the window etc.. also remove the holder too as they presume the other part is there too...thanks

Good advice mate. Fortunately, I'm still waiting on a bluetooth GPS receiver before mine gets anywhere near being placed in a holder

If you have not gat sat/nav, you could put a cradle in windscreen to make out you have then when the scum break in they will be really disappointed

They sell a metal box now that is bolted to a fixed point (via steel cable) in your boot etc, it fits a Tomtom in nicely...it's in LK Performances latest magazine

 

Further to Captain Sensible's advice also if you take your holder off remember to rub off the suction marks as it's a bit of a give away too.
