Karting
It's been mentioned a couple of times, and as I was passing Pole Position today I thought I'd pop in and get some info.
The track : 580m tarmac circuit with bridge, tunnel, underpass (where it's possible to get a little air between tyres and tarmac!), elevated pit area. Both myself and Dazza have raced here, and it's pretty damned good.
Karts : 270cc Sodi
This is a top venue, and very well managed, IMHO.
Options for different events which we may like to consider are;
Team Endurance :
8-16 karts for 1 1/2 hours £100 / team
Iron Man (Recommended )
Consists of 10 minute qualifying, plus 30, 40, or 50 minutes of non-stop racing. Believe me, you know when you've done this!
Also available in 60 minute flavour with a compulsory 10 minute break during racing.
Prices are £35 for 30 min, £40 for 40 min, £45 for 50 min or £50 for 60 min.
Grand Prix :
Practice, 3 heats, semi final each, with top 7 drivers joining Dazza in the Grand Final Top 3 get trophies and plonk, remainder get 'finalist' plaques.
Cost is £960 for up to 24 drivers (£40 each for 24 drivers, £48 each for 20, £60 for 16, etc.)
All the above prices are subject to a 20% discount if we book for AFTER 9pm on a weekday.
Most events are available on most days
Can we have a show of interest, and specify which event you'd prefer.
Let's give it a week or so to see what kind of figures we're looking at then we'll finalise the event and numbers and get a date and time booked.
Just stick your names down, I'll keep the list updated on this here post to avoid any confusion.
List rules: (Just to make things clear)
In the event of over-subscription the following will apply;
Paid up members take priority, if the number of paid-up members is greater than the number of available spaces names will be drawn from a hat
Non-paid members come next, again names will be draw if it's over-subscribed
Anyone else.
Maximum nuber of drivers for Iron Man is 16, GP is 24, Endurance is almost unlimited, but the more drivers the less time each will have driving.
1 - Sticky - Iron Man (any)
2 - Dave Carter - Iron Man (any)
3 - Matt - Iron Man (any)
4 - Simon (white scooby)
5 - The Mighty Atom - Iron Man (any)
6 - CB (any)
7 - Mick - iron man (longer the better) dependent on date though Sticky ??
8 - Kev Turbo (any)
9 - Killa (Virgin Kartist)
10 - JB23.5(AKA 'Are there any roundabouts on the track?')
11 - s3emo123
12 - Chishy
13 - Kat (Mrs Chishy)
14 - Paul Crafts (possible Ninja sighting imminent)
15 - Matt the Bass
16 - Skywalker (so long as he leaves the foce at home)
17 - Stu (Changing room to himself )
Once things are up and running a £10 deposit will be required from everyone to secure the booking.

You beat me to it
Whilst looking for tyres places in the Yellow Pages yesterday, I got the web links for a few karting places, as it seems like a good idea!
Noticed Pole Position, or theres www.f1-karting.co.uk in Wakefield?
Either way, I'm in!!!

I need to know if it's indoor as 'war lass won't kart indoor, fumes make her really ill. Also, when were we thinking roughly, as Sept is shaping up as a busy (expensive) month and I have a holiday booked too. I also need 3 months to drop 3 stone to challenge the little fella

'tis indoor, but they seem to have decent extraction, so not overly 'fumy'
(Is that a word?)
Let's see what numbers we get, and how quickly, then we'll work on a mutually convenient date.

Nice. 17 of us.
I'll call them tomorrow and get some dates. Is everyone okay with doing this after 9pm for the 20% discount?

Okay. Booked (provisionally) for Friday 1st Sept for an IronMan60 after 9pm
Usual price is £50, less 20% = £40 (if my calculations are correct!!!?!)
That gets us;
Driver briefing
Driver weigh-in (only kidding Mick )
10 mins qualifying
60 mins racing with compulsory 10 minute break
There are drinks and snacks vending machines on site.
PLEASE!!!
Can everyone, or as many as possible, let me know if the date and time are okay, and get your £10 deposits to me ASAP.
I will be confirming the booking and paying the deposit on Monday.
Andy

Don't know if I'll be there, but you can give it to Mick or Paul.
Si, sorry it's not convenient.
Is there anyone else NOT happy with this date? Could easily re-schedule for the week after at this stage.

Hang on...
Need to reschedule anyway, as it's a double booking with something else for a good few of us, aparrently.
*Goes off to call PPiK...*
...who are all 'on-citcuit' at the moment.
I'll call back in a bit.
So, we're probably looking at mon, tues or weds, Sept 4/5/6
Okay?
