Ok.. James mentioned this on the RSR thread and it's something that's been mentioned a few times by different people... The stand also looks a little bland and is in need to representing the club better. IMO.. It looked tiny behind the cars at the RSR and was definately too small for those who turned up...

Therefore, I believe we need to upsize the operation... I don't think we can compete directly with some of the bigger stands at the NBO because they had the added bonus of having companies tagged alongside...so unless we get that for next year.. we'll have to do it ourselves..

Some points for consideration...

Neccesseties

Gayzeebo
The trusty Gayzeebo is now too small. It was bought when we had a 1/4 of the members and a 1/4 of the outside doos.
It's also not quite right for the bad weather.. I've huddled cold and wet for too long inside it...
I'm sure we can find a use for it... Cooking tent?
Therefore, I think we need something bigger and more appropriate for days like Elvington and the RSR weekend where we can sit comfortably, warm & dry inside if needs be..
We need something quick and easy to put up that is weather proof and big enough to hold 15+ people with a few chairs and tables.. Ideas please.

BBQ
The BBQ is Simon's. He's gracioucly lent us it for the last few doos and it's not quite big enough.. Therefore, we need to look at getting a bigger one for the 2007 season or getting the same size and running two when needed. £40 for small one or £90 for decent size Gas powered one..

Banner Poles & Flag Stuff
We've got the single flag pole, but we need something like the one Dan supplies to prop up the big banner... No idea where to source them or the costs..

Nice to Have's

Heater
We need a heater or something similar for the tent and camping trips. Gas one's are about £80?

Small Generator
Only need about >2kw. Bugger me.. £900!

??
Suggestions please.

How do we pay?

We have about £200 from the subs recently collected and in the bank. Not a huge amount as we've never had to get loads of stuff.

So, one of the suggestions was to raise the subs to £25 for 2007. Again, they won't be mandatory, but if we want to have a bigger club.. we need bigger funds to support it...

We can look to get some sponsorship.. We have a big & growing prescence and we have some fabulously dynamic members...attracting a sponsor shouldn't be too difficult..

Raffles... at this month's EOM, we'll look to start a raffle.. If you have some ideas for prizes or have something to donate.. then post them here or PM me for the surprise value.

The SMACS lads turned us over with their footie cards ... about time we did this to ourselves (and them when they return) as well as events where punters may be willing to win some cash.... Ordered...

OK.. That's my ideas.. feel free to add your own or help directly..

Proper collapsible banner frames are upwards of £100, though Paul has today taken posession of both banners with a view to making some stakes to hold them.

Debbie mentioned something about gayzebos in t'Argos.

Hang on...

That'll be why I can't find it in Argos (how big's the catalogue nowadays)

JTF (bit like costco) sent me a leaflet recently that had some large ones in.

Hang on...

Paul, where's your last post gone?

If we had something like this

then we could have a massive "WYIOC" sign on the roof

Well, I never said it'd be cheap.

A 4m x 6m (13' x 20' for Al ) works out at (gulp) £435.

Just throwing ideas around at the moment, though it is a heavy duty commercial thing.

(pops off to find something for less than the national debt of a small third world country...)

Bit better, same site has a 'sandard' rather than 'heavy duty' one, same size for £273, or a 4m x 8m for £329

3x9m ones were £89.99 at Tradex last year. I suggested it then, and was gonna get one to use as a car port for myself. Can't check if they still do them as the one near me is closing down, but I'll try and find out if there's any similar in the group available. Will try and have a look at Makro tomorrow too.

I VOTE THE BIGGER THE BETTER (steady stu)sorry mate

IF we need to put money forward to get the best gayzeebo then so be it the wyioc are going to be no.1 next year at every event

SUBS I believe that if you want to part of the club at shows you MUST pay the £25 sub for the year to be welcome on the stand. don't get me wrong I think the casual way the club is a good thing but if were moving up then this is a must. plus the £25 quid not only gets you drink, food, shelter at next years scooby shootout but you know that someone is sat near your pride and joy so its safer than it been it the public car parks

as for the heater paul mentioned something that you put sticks on if not lets just make a half barrel "HOBO" camp fire

Gents,

I have got one of the big marquees like the one sticky has shown in his picture. Available from ebay for ~£300 for a 4mx10m one (company called AJM based in Barnsley somewhere) and they really are good. However they take 2hours+ for 3 people to put up, the poles are 2.8m long so don't go in a car and the total thing weighs ~100kg.

I'm not sticking my beak in (ok i am) but why dont you go to an online tent supplier i.e. http://www.wildday.co.uk/productslis...uctGroupID=106

http://www.outdoormegastore.co.uk/ac...ents__270.html

http://www.outdoormegastore.co.uk/ac...zebos_268.html

http://www.tents-direct.co.uk/party_marquee_tents.php

Football cards are a great idea as its not just taking money off folk - they can win a few quid, people normally will put a couple of quid in- also you can pounce on unsuspecting clubs at your meets

Just a thought

Talking of making the club more proffessional and As some members don t have access to computors how about us doing a monthly news letter, in this we can put loads of info and pictures in it, and various other things

Pictures
events for the following month
events just done in previous month
winners of shows
Raffles taking place
meetings
items and cars for sale from members
Fund raising ideas
club updates
new member welcomes
new member updates
and what ever anyone else wants in or suggests

I do this in my job so i am prepared to do this for the club and print them off for all club members free of charge and hopefully bring in some more money for the club

Aileen. That is a superb suggestion and a generous offer. Thank you.

We'd thought of this sometime ago, but didn't have the resources to do it without a charge.. We'd thought of a 1/4ly type newlestter that we could have on the stands as well to advertise the club alongside the flyers...

What type of thing do you have in mind? A one pager or a multi-page item? Colour or B&W?

I feel 1/4ly would be best as it'll give us time to fill it up and we have a few great photographers as well as some people who can string a sentence or two together and loads of events and doos being organised and run.....

Of course, I'll leave it up to your proffesional eye to suggest styles and content... Either PM me to talk details or keep it on here to gather some ideas and offers of help...

This is exactly what makes the club what it is.. generous offers from generous people stepping up to make things happen

Alan i am willing to do whatever people want i thought of a multi page with probley the front page being coloured for the photos this way i could do the news letter free and print plenty off.

I am open to any ideas or suggestions as i would design it, put it together and print it that way we could put whatever members wanted in it

ANY SUGGESTIONS OR IDEAS WOULD BE APPRECIATED

PLEASE POST ANY THOUGHTS
