Default WYIOC Newsletter

Taken from the 'WYIOC Go Bigger' Thread... the following was posted bu Aileen who came up with this fantastic and generous offer..

Just a thought

Talking of making the club more proffessional and As some members don t have access to computors how about us doing a monthly news letter, in this we can put loads of info and pictures in it, and various other things

Pictures
events for the following month
events just done in previous month
winners of shows
Raffles taking place
meetings
items and cars for sale from members
Fund raising ideas
club updates
new member welcomes
new member updates
and what ever anyone else wants in or suggests

I do this in my job so i am prepared to do this for the club and print them off for all club members free of charge and hopefully bring in some more money for the club

Aileen. Yatesy`s Wife

I've started this separate thread as I believe this is a great idea and is definately a goer now that we have the proffesional resources that Aileen can offer. She has also asked for ideas and other input so that we can start getting some stuff together.

Aileen will do all the design and printing work of the probable coloured front and multi page 1/4 ly newsletter... We'll use this thread to post ideas and look over any designs that come forward...

Aileen has come up with some great ideas above.. here's some of mine for content...

1. We'll need a name... Thinking caps on for a name that best refelects the club... Please stay away from wordplay around True Grip... Logo should be as we have now..
2. 1/4ly Intro to the club..on the inside cover
3. Advertiser sections.. suitably charged..
4. Cover charge (donation / 50p / £1?) to cover any current or future costs for Aileen and bring a little money back into the club..
5. Back page or section, caption competition?

Let the creative juices flow...

^ Liking that last one the more I think about it.

Could easily be done in the Impreza font.

Scoop

BTW, 20 years in printing and a bit of a dab-hand at Quark, Illustrator, Freehand, PS etc. You only had to ask If Eileen needs any assistance getting it ready in time I'm only too happy to help.

just my two peneth Al ,
just read a few posts about membership ,newsletters etc.
firstly i think the newsletter is a great idea and should be subsidised from subs.
but subs could do with structuring, i am probably one of the members , who's sub have run out, i have paid 2 or 3 times but last time was a while ago and i cannot remember when , but as you know my appearance has been somewhat vague lately ,due to work ,hols and laziness etc!
can we not have the wyioc sticker to say '2006 membership' so when paid you get one, or have subs start date!
on saying that i have never had any of the round badges or seen a copy of the year book dvd to prove i have ever paid, dig dig
i agree subs will need to go up to cover publication , but nowts free!
so why not go for £25 a year ,
screen badge when paid .
assuming £25 would cover badge ,publication and some !
am i right in saying sidc is £25 with true grip!

Garry... Thanks for that mate... Most of what you put down there has been tabled before.. so you're on the button with the way you're going..

We were supoposed to get the 2006 badges.. but Sticky forgot to add '2006' when he did the new 2006 batch...

The DVD?? Sticky did a good job on knocking 1/4 of one together.. but it died a bit after that...

Spotted the connection?

Stickies been a stalwart to the club on many many occassions.. so the above is in jest obviously, as his work comes first; Hence we looked to ask other members to get involved at the last meet... which you rightly said, you missed due to being lazy

... but we are looking to put the subs up to £25.

We're also hoping that Simon (SCG) will be looking to do a DVD.. possibly with Stickies help as some of the vids posted from Simon are great quality...

We've yet to discuss the details.. but I would suggest that a 2007 badge would be given with the £25 and we'd need to closely look at what the club gives for that money.. But the newletter.. bigger and better stand presence and many more members getting directly involved with the club on all fronts should see some big changes for 2007...

Right, you.

Go out and look at your window sticker, NOW.

Then look closer.

In the background.

See it?

If not then either you need to spend more at specsavers or you're still wearing last year's sticker.

When you come back I'll be waiting for your apology

I actually thought... quick.. delete the post and post something witty.... then I thought... I'm from Birmingham.. I can eat humble pie...along with the scratchings, black pud, Paes and peas and Bank's Best...

Therefore I apologise.. as '2006' does indeed reside on my sticker...

I must bow to your attention to detail and subtlety for which I am rightly renowned for spotting, but missed this time... Can I be forgiven this one slip? Please? Pretty please..? Call it a draw at 1:1?

Why Paul?

The Ninja's true identity is a closely guarded secret, known only to the mysterious person themselves.

He (or she) has take it upon themselves to stalk the WYIOC with ultimate stealth, only making an appearance when some poor unsuspecting photographer attempts to take a nice photo of some scenery.

If anyone has any information leading to the capture of the Ninja, dead or alive, then call Ninjastoppers on 0845 4 55 66 77 88 99 now!

Can I ask for some volunteers for writing specific articles...??

I'm happy to help Aileen on the editing, production and editorial... but we 'll need help on the content...

Those organaising or those who have organised... think about writing something up for the letter... don't worry if you're spilling & grammar is like, rubbish and stuff... we can sort that out..

So no excuses..

I've PM'd Aileen to make a start with 'Imprint'.. to give us some idea of the look and generate discussion again...

As for content... Any takers for knocking something together? I've taken the liberty of assigning some tasks on the following areas:

Editorial - Al or whoever has something to put in
Pictures - Apple, Dazza, Sticky through normal means
Big events planned for the following months - Al or event organiser
Events just done in previous month - Event organisers /attendees to write a piece..
Winners of shows - Event organisers /attendees or winner to write a piece..
Raffles taking place - Al
Meetings - Al (I envisage this as a static section covering EOM and regular stuff.)
Items and cars for sale from members - All members
Fund raising ideas - All members
Club updates - Al / All members
New member welcomes - Al
Sourcing advertisers - Anyone help here?

Other ideas still welcome...

If you object to some assignment or want to get stuck in.. let me or Aileen know!!

I'll take out an advert, what's the rates?

I'll knock something up about the BBO, though it would be nice to have a confirmed date from Frank or John (I'll have a natter with one of 'em)

Will put as much into this as I'm able, but things here (w**k) are a little hectic ATM, to say the least.
