- Have you got anything holding a key down?? (probably not as you'd see the key zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzooming along if it was stuck down..
- Have you got an offline spell checker? This may be bleeping to typos as you type them in SNET
- have you got a pop-up? These can be annoying in that they give beeps.. etc when active...
- You've accidentally turned the volume up and are playing sounds you didn't realise before when it was turned down...

Cheers Al, I was a bit sparse with the detail....
It only goes beep, pause beep, beep..... when you turn it on !
Does nowt else but repeat the above.
( Apparently POST error is video card related, found ont' net. )
P.S. pass out revoked at short notice.... surveyors are in all week. Glum.

If this fails.. then find a spare and try it again... it may be the video BUS or similar on board (motherboard) error....
There are probably other things to try (dependent upon your machine).. but we'll start here..

Ops I did it again....
Cheers Alan,
Tried Powerstrip on my PCI card as my PCI-E Freeview card had a jumpy playback.... assumed my pre-historic FX5200 video was unable to cope.....
Then it slowed, then it stopped. Reset to a beep, beep symphony....
May have to buy a PCI-E graphics card, now Xmas has gone (?)
wadya think 8800GTS or GTX..... Only £350-£450.... and a nice 30" Dell monitor for about a grand... ( Only joking, I'd rather have 350 bhp....)
Sadly no spare parts, but don't worry my flexible friend might have a months exercise...

The more you write, the more I see my level of response has to go up Don't go too far!! In older times, i would have got the soldering iron out and circuit diagram and had a bash at repairing... but no more I'm afraid.. it's like looking under the bonnet of the scoob.. it's a damn site more complex than a Mk1 Cortina..
Tough call on the 30" monitor. I spend a lot more time in front of the PC than I driving... so it's a toughie as a 30" monitor would be a beautiful thing with a Vista machine...
I'm not too hot on hardware choices as I don't build my own machines anymore and I've lost touch... However..
The GTX has 33% more Stream Processors running 75MHz faster. It also has about 33% more RAM bandwidth with 20% more RAM. The main GPU core is also ever so slightly faster at +12.5%. All in all, the 33% price increase of the GTX vs GTS is perfectly justified by the specs alone...
Nicked from 2002 forum... But as you have a 'legacy' card and it appears to have died, get the GTX..
