On the back it says it's tested on a focus ST.. a porche 933 and a subaru impreza and it's at more and more petrol stations each month ..recomended for track use ..... so that'll i'll be me everyday then

Am not sure if this will make much of a difference to our cars as they really need to be mapped on the fuel in order to give the proper gains, Uk subarus are mapped on 97/98 ron fuel, it will poss be safer as you should experience less knock activity in the engine but otherwise I would not really bother with it.

102 RON is all well and good but surely if it is put in a car with standard management it won't be able to adjust itself enough to take full advantage of it. Or will it?

There is a lot of truth in that mate, although if it is a good quality fuel you potentially could feel an improvement in most anything, unless the car is mapped on this fuel it simply won't get the full benefit.
JDM's are mapped and run on 100ron hence the reason the JDM community feel its a more than a worth while cause running on opti or tesco,
Its kinda like plugging your telly into a bucket of coal, there not made to run on it
