Default Gearbox noise....

I get the following symptoms after I had what appeared to be clutch slippage coming from a slow speed roll on from a roundabout in second..

The noise from underneath is of something rotating in or near the gearbox when I'm sat idling.. this is audible as a slight rattle from underneath.

If I dip the clutch the noise goes away and if I then take my foot off (without engaging any gears) there's a slight audible clunk that can be felt through the pedal..

Nothing major grating or car rattling.. but unnerving. there was some clutch burn after the slip..

Seems quite all right at the moment to drive and bite point hasn't changed..

Any ideas?

could it be the release bearing on the clutch?
but does not sound that bad
usually if you have a noise that occurs when driving from the box is bad..and get it sorted befoe it goes pop..

John..

If it breaks up you won't be going anywhere it also could be your springs in your pressure plate never the less you want to get it checked asap.bri.

As an expert on rattling, grinding, crunching, noises etc...(the none optional extras with a 13th hand-me-down french mobile) here's what I do.........

Drive it hard till it breaks, then you can pinpoint exactly what it was making the damn noise, sorted

Think Alan might have sorted this out, after locating gearbox oil dipstick he found out there was no oil in gearbox.

Mark.. the noise is still there... I checked it in the garage on Sunday..The new oil does make it smoother, but the bite seems to be less forceful and the clutch bite has 'lightened'.. It's not slipping but it just seems a less forceful bite / grab...

I'm not sure if the lack of oil would have caused the onset of the release / thrust bearing failure (if that's what it is).. But I'll be taking it to Zac & Drew this week to get their opinion...

I'm not caning it.. buit it's currently driving fine..
