Anytime for me, although September gives me time to do some overtime to pay for it

As mentioned, maybe we could take a small amount from people at each EOM, or whenever they have spare cash. This could be kept in the club account, saves people shelling out £700 all at once

Some useful info on this site . .

Nurburgring Nordschleife website

Not sure how upto date it is, or how accurate, but may give an idea of costs etc

The important bits copied from the site

If you want to get an idea of all-in costs for a weekend trip, for a 'standard' weekend (out Fri, full day Saturday, half-day Sunday, return Sun afternoon/eve) from London by car, the costs look something like this:

Channel crossing: Varies, but say typically £120
Petrol en-route: Typically 2 x £60 = £120
Petrol for the Ring: Say £90
Bed-and-breakfast per person: £25 per night x 2 = £50
Food: 2 x dinner, 2 x lunch, food en-route, beer = £100
25-lap ticket = £232
Total = approx £700
oh . .and this bit too

Base fee for attendance of armco truck: €150
Removing damaged armco: €10/metre (x2 or x3 or x4 for multiple-height sections)
Replacement armco: €31/metre (x2 or x3 for double/triple height)
Removing damaged armco posts: €5.10 each
Replacing armco post: €39 each
Safety car attendance: €82 per 30 mins (car + 2 people)
Circuit closure: €1,350 per hour
Recovery truck: €175 (inc VAT)
Hospital stay & air ambulance: Let's just say, do NOT go there without travel insurance! (Though a European Health Card - which replaced the E111 - may cover the hospital bit.)
Everything except the recovery truck is then subject to 19% VAT.

I think you'll find the track pack gets used often enough thanks...

Not for me this time, wanting to pay of a visa card bill this year, and this trip would seriously affect me achieving this.

6:55

His name is apparently Michael Vergers & this is him setting the production (ie road-legal) car record around the Nürburgring. It's a 6:55, on road-legal tyres, which Michael said meant that the car wasn't as well balanced as it should have been. I thought his biggest hairy moment came in Pflanzgarden I at 5:46 (on the vid timer). He takes the jump (very fast) at 5:36, then nails it all the way through Pflanzgarten II to Schwalbenschwanz (6:01). At 5:46 the car goes light and sideways, but Michael reckoned that was insignificant - He recons the biggest terror-moment came earlier. It happens at the left-right flick-flack after Kallenhard and before the miss-hit-miss double right-hander on the way down the hill to Wehrseifen. The timer moment is at 2:36. And the problem was understeer. He thought he was going off there as the car bottomed out and the nose pushed wide, and he had to lift to avoid the kerb. When you look at it, you can see exactly what he means - it must have been terrifying to have to lift there. He was taken by surprise and that's not good on this track. He also said that it got hairy on the straights, because softer dampers were fitted to absorb the Nürburgring's terrible bumps and the car's aero downforce was causing it to bottom out at high speed (hear the undertray scraping from 6:42 to 7:04 at full speed in top gear - and around a corner!). But the real action is at 2:36, between the moment when the car bottoms out and when he gets back on the throttle again. During that quiet instant, with the lock on and the car nosing toward the scenery, Vergers is more afraid than at any other time in the lap.

If you ever get this trip sorted, here's a recommendation. Hotel am Tiergarten in Nurburg, tel +49 (0) 2691 92 200 or CLICKY there's an English language tab

Reputed to have superb food (the steak on granite platter sounded scrumptious) in excellent surroundings, and a bar staffed in the evenings by the owners daughter......Sabine Schmitt

If I get a car worth taking at some point then I'll join you.

I'll be taking the Atom this year if anyone would like to come along, suspect it will be significantly cheaper to tag along in the crew scenic than take the car, oh and there may be a tent involved...! Also the I'm counting on the repairs being cheaper, two helmet sized dents in the armco is obviously less expensive than a full length and a post... And if you fancy some laps of the ring with me in the Atom then I'm pretty sure it will be exiting
Won't be going for the outright record for sure but it will still be a bit of an experieince
