Default Cheapest place for Bridgestone RE040's???

Hi

I've been directed this way for a bit of advice.

I've an MY04 WRX which needs two new tyres, it's done 20,000 and the edges of the front two are looking a bit bald. The back two are fine still.

I'd like to stick with the Bridgestones as I like having the same tyres on each corner but the best price so far (fitted) is £247.50. Does anyone know anywhere that's likely to be cheaper?

Alternatively, what make would you suggest and how much would they cost fitted?

I live in Barnsley so South/West Yorkshire is where i'd be looking to go.

Thanks.

I've just had two new RE070's fitted to my 53 plate T20 for £220 @Motorsportwheels in Seacroft. (225x45 17's)

Ring Jason on Tel: 0113 218 8777

they are located ate Unit 2, The Courtyards, Victoria Road, Seacroft, Leeds LS14 2LB.

Fax: 0113 218 8555 Email: leeds@mswuk.com

Good set of lads who know what they are doing..

Alternatively try Drew or Zac @Precious Metals who did a fine job of pricing me some wheels but couldn't quite match the price.. Probably due to the fact that MSW do nothing but tyes and wheels...

They are right here in Leeds... on 07707 105449 ( Drew ) or 07707 105450 ( Zac ) or 01977 674785 ( Shop ) or you can email them at sales@preciousmetal-online.co.uk or PM them on SNET....

Motorsport wheels, only over the road from me

I'll see what our tyre fitter can do (Scotthall BMW) he can pretty much match anywhere and fitting is included in the price.

Whats the actual tyre size?

What's the difference between 40's and 70's?

National Tyres say the standard fitment should be 225/45R17 W, i'll check this later though.

Re070's - Semi-slick, very rigid sidewalls, astonishing dry grip, scarey in the wet...

RE040 - More of a normal performance road tyre...

The best compromise for performance, dry, wet and price...

Vredestein UltraC

MSW are very good, as are Tyres4Less in Armley.

These are standard on that year JDM & UK STI's I believe and standard on the T20 & T25.

Dave tried to break some grip when he had a short drive in my car, and couldn't get it to go.. probably as much down to the T20 setup... but his comments are spot on.. I've never had anything so good in the dry.. but they have to be given some respect in the wet... This is mainly down to the rigid side walls. I've aquaplaned in monsoon conditions when other have cars sailed past, so the water displacement lacking... and they put me into a dry stone wall in icy / slushy conditions when 4 other cars went round the same bend faster...

But the fact that I've had some more speaks for their overall ability for my car and driving style..

Bullit Rich - Keep us informed mate as a good fitter and cheap(er) tyres are always welcomed...

4O'S Are the best Bridgestone in my eyes had the 70's and the fiftys and you saw the state of that fence

UltraC are the DADDYS in the WET once you have mastered them , they tend to let go in wet conditions that little bit too soon .... when turning at speed (which gives you plenty of sideways action ) but the moment you centre the wheel **** me Grip is not the word more like your on a set of rails..... in the dry there still exceptional but again at speed they squeel like **** without lousing grip ...

40's for the summer months and verdestien winter .... you have to remember its england so its always gonna rain

Thanks for the help guys.

I'll wait to see what Bullet_Rich has to say and then if necessary try MSW and Precious Metals (they don't advertise tyres though on their website )

The boys have just started up and we'll support them where possible.. but they will get your tyres in and get them fitted.. not sure whether they can match the price of the dedicated outlets as it's not their core business.. but there's no harm in calling.

Hello, We (Precious Metal) can supply and fit the bridgestones, even though as alan kindly says tyres are not our core business we are still able to offer some great prices on all tyres.

For the bridgestone 225/45/17's RE070's we would normally sell them at £110 per tyre.

However to look after all you scoobynet and WYIOC guys and gals we would further discount them and supply and fit them for £105 per tyre.

I will try and get some tyre prices on our site at some point today, but because there is so many different types makes etc best thing to do is give us a call for prices 01977 674785.

I've just been to our tyre fitter, theres two way to go about it...

1. Book the cars in through the dealership (better for both as it doesn't get me in trouble) and pay our retail prices for the tyres supplied and fitted.

2. I buy the tyres (at cost price) and supply but can't get them fitted here

I am going to have a word with the service manager to see if we can come to some arrangement.

The supplied and fitted prices are (+VAT):

RE040 225/45 R17W

RE040 BZ 90W - £107.64
RE040 BZ 94W - £101.14
RE040B 91W - £102.44
RE040J 90W - £107.64

RE070 CZ 90W - £115.44

I can get them at cost but they are very limited and doesn't include fitting.

In all honesty, I don't want to step on Precious Metals toes as they are offering an excellent discount scheme for WYIOC and we all want to help them as much as possible.
