Default Service in Bradford (Richard Henry Autos?)

Hi All

My MY04 PPP WRX is due for 3yr/30k service. I've heard good things about Robert Bowett for servicing, however I've seen a couple of references on here to Richard Henry Autos in Bradford. Now I live in Leeds, but I work in Bradford within 2 miles of the latter.

Mainly seen him refered to with regard to mods, upgrades etc but: -

1) Does anyone use him as a main service point (and would you prefer/trust him over Robert Bowett)? Will he follow the proper Subaru schedule or just drop the oil and filter and whistle at the plugs etc?

2) Would a service there be OK under the Subary warranty? Mine's warrantied until July I believe. I don't want to risk knacking my warranty to save a couple of quid.

Basically I'm assuming it will be cheaper and more convenient there, but will it be worthwhile or will I get a better "service" at Bowetts?

Thanks, Sy

I'll have to bow to people who've used both those suggestions and to your warranty questions... but Bowetts has had some great reviews...

I suppose it depends if you want a main dealer stamp?

The boys (Zac & Drew) at Precious Metals in Knottingley (01977 674785.) have done a few of us proud since recently getting set up and I'm sure they will be able to answer your questions in an honest and open fashion...

I'll answer the only bit I'm sure about (as above), the Subaru Warranties book says your warranty will be invalid if you get it serviced at RHA (Regardless of any legislation meant to prevent this practice!).

Richard Henry is only down the road from me & the guy on our street with an Evo6 uses them. Have to say that when I went to see them for a chat they seem geared up for rebuilds etc but it's only 1 small unit on a small industrial estate.

Hello,

Servicing your car would not be a problem what so ever and would just like to thank Alan and Scott for pointing you in our direction.

.: PreciousMetal-Online.co.uk -

We are more than willing to stamp your book when serviced however as we are currently not VAT registered (in the process of becoming so though!!!) this could cause problems for your subaru warrenty, and as you rightly point out there is no point saving a few quid and loosing your warrenty that could save you £££'s.

Sorry we cant help on this occasion but dont hesitate to contact in the future if you ever need anything, if you want to contact us to chat about any of the above you can on 01977 674785.

Regards
Drew

Thanks for the advice all. I've booked it into Bowett's since it's still under warranty to be safe. Been quoted £505 including VAT (about 435 excl) - does that sound about right for a 30,000 plugs service? Can I expect much on top of that?

Bit expensive..........................

KT Greens quoted me £345.00 plus VAT and they were going to throw the three year body inspection in with it as well (53 plate sti)

In the end KT Greens did the body service for £35.00 plus vat and I got the service done with a Specialist for £220.00 (provided own uprated plugs)

Hmmm. Greens just quoted me over 400 quid + VAT.

Ah well it's booked in at somewhere that gets plenty of thumbs up so I'll suck it and see this time!
