hey guys, i'm very new to the scooby scene. i'm in the process of buying a 99't', AWD turbo scooby. its been tuned to around 280-290 bhp, and is stickered up in the WRC livery. the question i wanna out to you, is, what problems do i need to look out for when inspecting the vehicle. i'm a mechanic by trade, but are unfamiliar with scoobs, so any pointers or hints would be grately appreciated. i hope to see some of you around.. do you have any meets or anything.

Hi... not many people on tonight.
Welcome to snet...
We have a meet at squires in sherburn last thursday of every month and many other events that are posted on forum.
things to look for...
pop bonnet, start engine from cold, when warmed up there should be no mettalic noise if there is it could be piston slap [bores on way out]
rev it for knocking noises etc as big or small end bearings could be on way out
if you see white smoke from exhaust when cold and reved turbo seals may have failed
watch out for nasty induction kits as this can effect maf sensor

:thanks for the welcome guys!! some of my personal details.. my name is andy. i'm 25, i live in normanton near wakefield, and i have just had a career change, and become a bus driver!! working for arriva in heckmondwike. have a child on the way, in october, and as a result, needed a sensible 4 door family saloon!! hence the scoob. the car i have bought, has come from a guy i know at arriva, who has had it six years. not been thrashed, but used sensibly. obv he has used the full potential, like your bound to do in a subaru! thats about it! i know where squires is, its the place where all the bikers go, just past the dodgy railway bridge?!?! hope to see you soon, probs wont be able to make this months meet, but hopefully next, depending what shift i'm working!
