EOM - 29th November - Squires - Important Announcement!!!
Right.
Every now and again, the club gets itchy feet... it really is just a case of people getting familiar with surroundings and wanting a change... we've tried settling before but it just doesn't work... Several people have floated the idea a few times over the past few months and I suppose the members have spoken... As this club is all of ours, then that's only right...
Now, we've moved a few times in the past (Fenay Bridge to Trading Post to Fox Glove and back to Squires) so another move will be a good way to blow the cobwebs away, stretch the arms of the club and evolve.
It also has another purpose:
When we moved the last time it was partly to accommodate the itchy feet and the new members from the East Yorks side.. But they are catered for now, so that need is no longer a hold on the club.
What also happened when we moved, was that we left behind some good people... names such as Apple, Kev Turbo, Gary, Paul & Steff, Martyn, Martin & Raff to name just a few... We also left behind possibly the best bunch of car club related friends we've had... namely the SMACS lads and lasses who made the regular trip over to see us...(We're looking at an arranged Xmas doo - so watch this space)
But what we see now is that we have new members coming in from Huddersfield way (Simon & Flis, Hudders1 etc etc), and the club owes them the chance to get involved more. We also have Andy & Ellie who sponsor and provide us with friendship and chocolate hob ****...
I'm aware this will come as a shock to some... But it's been bubbling for a while and I'm only floating the idea for a poll and to get feedback on whether you feel it's a good thing??
Personally? This is needed. Squires is a great venue and steeped in petrol and oil history, but it simply feels too 'cramped'. Meetings there have lost their edge and we left behind some great people and friends when we moved... It's time to re-invigorate the Club joints and embrace the New Year with a new venue, new badge and a new lease of life.
So...
Can I ask you to simply put your comments down as to whether you think this is a good or bad idea or you're not too bothered. I'm afraid, to some people it may be a make or break decision.. but that will be something we'll deal with.
I'd like to propose a few things...
1. We choose somewhere near the Mirfield, Grange Moor, Kirkheaton area. This is to accommodate the one or two people who believe moving right back to Huddersfield will be too much for them.. we want to loose no one in this..
2. You start putting in some suggestions of pubs. These pubs;
We then decide as a club, which one suits us best....
So let the discussions, suggestions and banter begin...

2. You start putting in some suggestions of pubs. These pubs;
- Must have a good sized accessible car park where we can park all together
- Accept kids after 9
- Do reasonably priced food & beer with a good selection
- Have a decent (camera free) drive in and out and can be accessible from the Motorway if people (or the SMACS lot) wish to make a quick jaunt in...
- Be welcoming to a club and able to serve a large 30+ group on the last Thursday of the month.
We then decide as a club, which one suits us best....
So let the discussions, suggestions and banter begin...

Thanks Al, I think a change would be good too as said above...
Anywhere is good for us as when I get behind the wheel I could drive for ever.
There are quite a few to choose from, there is one on snake pass, no cameras, very accomadating and local to the SMACS, there is the 3 nuns in mirfield but that can get quite busy and there are cameras in all directions.
There is the POST OFFICE near junction junction 38 of M1 but i believe a few of the corsa brigade etc go there.
I think it would be good to have everyone firing in suggestions and we can visit everyone and take a poll from there.
I do also believe this would be the best for the club and members.

I personally think that the Snake Pass is a little 'out of the way' for a monthly meet, thouh it is the likely candidate for the SMACS Xmas meet, just as long as Al can go the long way round and avoid Strines
There's a pub smack in the middle of the marina in Huddersfield, not sure of the name, windows all around the place, next to a footbridge. Don't know if it gets too busy on a Thursday though.

Hare and Hound Lilly lane inbetween Kirkheaton and Grange moor, large car parking area, pretty sure there is the choice of two either side of the road, just potential offering.
