Default Run to the hills...

...and valleys and LAKES!

Anyone fancy an EARLY Sunday start in a week or two. Steady drive up to t'lakes, do the bestest passes, Hardknott, Wrynose, Kirkstone etc. lunch in a nice Lakeside pub, and home?

Need to finalise a date with the ******* one, but would be either 24 Feb or 2 Mar.

the jump is either the 1st or 2nd, we might be best with the 24th in that case....i am hoping they confirm the 1st as that is my first choice of date

plus you are all invited to the jump if you want to come for the drive....

As a recommendation, we've always loved the Wateredge Inn at Ambleside, right at the top of Windermere. Nice pub, good food, stunning views of the lake Gets very busy though

This would be cracking if we don't mind sharing .....

And it's bang in the middle of Kirkstone pass....

And we could spread the runs over 2 days.....

Hard to miss If you're heading north through Bowness on the A591 past Windermere, when you get to Waterhead at the tip of the lake and just before Ambleside there's some traffic lights where you go left to follow the A5095 to the A593 to Coniston. It's about 300 yards after the lights on the left, with a small car park before the building and a bigger one just around the bend after the building.

MULTIMAP

There's a cheeky little snicket of a road north out of Ambleside which meets the Kirkstone that's very narrow and twisty

Will have a better look next time....

Know that little back road well Dave up on to Kirkstone ,brings you out at pub right on top of pass, just before you drop down into Sykeside...

^ Lovingly and thoughtfully typed for me in my absence and without my knowledge by the misuse.

Looks like a postponement is on the cards
