Sad Day For RE motorsport
Just wanted to share with you all - a fantastic talented man who died yesterday - My hero, my Grandad.
He was like a dad to me, I looked up to him with respect and admiration.
He was a yorkshireman born in Barnsly. As a kid I used to go down to the workshop with him on a Saturday morning where he would make thinks out of nothing - it was amazing to see. He would drum it into me that if you do a job, you do it right or don't bother doing it at all. It was great as a kid messing about in the workshop getting covered in oil and s**t, coming home and getting a b*****ing off my Nan and then my mum - nothing changes.
Even when he retired he would get a proper drawing of a ship and build a remote controlled scaled version from scratch with no instuctions. They were all fully working and the attension to detail was amazing all with lights that worked, rope on the decks, small railings around the sides the detail was amazing - I could look at them for hours.
Thanks
Rick

Looks like you're a chip off the old block then if your work is anything to go by, and it sounds like your Grandad was a bit like mine. I remember 7' long scale models of the QE2 and Queen Mary built from nothing more than scrap from his cellar, every garden gate and fence in the street made by him, every broken window fixed by him, he was a sheet metal worker, joiner, cobbler, tailor and just about every other craft trade which used to exist in this land. I lost mine when I was 12, so you have my sympathies Rick, men like them are legends and we should never forget them not just in our minds and hearts, but in what we do by keeping their spirit, creativity, ingenuity and passion going in what we do.

A Big THANK YOU to you all for your condolences.
We won't be able to make this months meeting to catch up with you all as the funeral has been scheduled for the 27th. But we'll be there in April, if we don't see any of you beforehand.
Thanks Again.
