Scraping noise from brakes
Hi all
Can anyone suggest why my brakes are making a scraping noise?
I've had it in to a back street garage who is run by a mate of my dads and they've checked the discs and pads and everything looks fine?
It makes a scraping noise when light braking which is really noticable when heavy breaking especially motorway slip road end stops.
It doesn't do it all the time but its starting to annoy me now
Any one had similar? any idea's?
Cheers all

Really does sound like one of the inner pads is down to metal or close in parts.
Trapped stones can cause similar but these clear pretty quick.
I would have it checked out by some one you can trust, pad inspection is free at a lot of quality garages these days.

Jack it up, wheel off, get yer head in the arch and have a look yourself. The inside pad does wear quicker than the outside, so if it needs doing....
Wire clip off, pins out, retaining clip will fall off, brake fluid res lid off, push pistons in using adjustable pliers on the old pads, pop old out, new in, retainer on and pins in, wire clip on, fluid res on, start engine and pump a few times, then a slow test drive. Under an hour for both sides, and the only tools required are adjustable pliers, and even they can be substituted if you haven't got any.
Not wanting to tread on JB's toes, but a bit more local if you need them are .: PreciousMetal-Online.co.uk -
The best pads I can suggest would be Pagid Blue, maybe off of AS Performance - Rally Motorsport Specialists
