yes !
IMO's are ok (touch wood) but had a bit of a incident with a total garage one not so long ago the sensors didnt pick it up and it got stuck......
doing it yourself is always the best option !

ouch! dont do it!!!!! i took my old car through a car wash just the once and it made a proper mess, its safer to leave it mucky!!
take it to one of the hand car wash garages at the very least, who don't use a scary machine!

The hand washes use a chamois, the same one they used on the last car, and the 200 before that, before passing it through a mangle, embedding all the dirt and grit into it making it like sandpaper. Also, if they were to drop it on the floor and no-one notices, do you think they care enough to throw it away, or even to go give it a thorough clean before re-using it ? They also use sponges, which although not as bad, can still damage your cherished, soft, thin and rather rubbish Subaru paint.

Oh ! David, it's only a few grand to re-spray one.
Didn't you know it's got to be sprayed a four colour flip at the age of ten years old, and then have chav lights fitted....
LOL
