New TV - Advice needed
After someone drove into my car a couple of weeks ago, a cheque for a grand arrived today to compensate me for my injury
So, as part of my recovery, I feel I need to relax and rest by watching a 42" tv, and playing on a PS3
Any recommendations for a TV? Should I be looking at 720p or 1080p? Plasma or LCD?
Looking at the Panasonic Th42pz80b at the moment, purely as I have an existing Panasonic 32" LCD and its been spot on
Anyone had experience of LG's?
Budget is about £750 for the TV.

Stretch the budget and get the PZ81B with built-in FreeSat and 1080p full HD, 1,000,000:1 CR and 5yr G/tee. Ditch Sky to cover the price difference. If FreeSat doesn't interest you then get the PZ80B. Plasma still beats LCD for TV/movies IMHO (and just about all the AV nuts out there) although if gaming is your thing then LCD may be better suited, but I don't advise on those as I never bother with them. No reason not to go 1080p as the price difference is negligible now and you may as well future-proof yourself, however, you have to look very closely to see much difference with the better sets.

Cheers mate
Had a good look round, and I think I'll end up with the PZ80B. I've got a 10% discount code for Empire Direct, so could have the TV for £712 delivered
Just found this -
LG 47LG5000 Ctv Lcd 47" Freeview, Hd Ready | EmpireDirect.co.uk Electrical Appliances
What do you think?

I could write down a dozen good 42" panels, but I don't think you'll go wrong with any decent 1080 panel nowadays.
Dave's right. 1080 is the only way. Anything else and you'll regret it.
What I would also say is go for the largest you can afford. If you can fit a 50" into your viewing space, then do it.
It may take a little getting used to and stretch the budget by £50, but you may find the extra size a benefit.... go view one..

I went for the Panasonic TX-32LZD85 'cos I've only got a wee-man room !
1080P 24fps 100Hzand up-scaled DVD is as good as Blu-Ray via HDMI of course. I picked mine up from DirectTV's near Huddersfield, Can't complain, but as you say the 40" Freesat would have been better in hindsight...

Think its a TV that has a few deals with it from time to time.
