PC help required . . .

PC help required . . .
The PC blew up last night, so out came the tool kit and I took it to bits
Figured it was the power supply that had blown, so got one to put me on, which is off back to the shop soon as I order a cheaper one off the net
While the PC is in bits, I'm going to stick some more memory in it, as it appears to have two slots free.
Question is . . . is there a limit to what the PC will support?
Model is a HP Pavilion a6027.uk . Has 2046mb as standard. I think it has ddr2 ram fitted. Just need to find out so I can order all the bits together from CCL
Btw, Dazza - if you see this and have'nt been for that PS3 HDD yet, let me know 'cause I'll stick it on the same order.

From: Slowly rebuilding the kit of bits into a car...
Mine doesn't seem to use the extra memory....
Vista 32 bit can only access 3 Mb and the other chunk is reserved for video cards.... 64 bit Vista fixes this but who'd pay again ?

P.S. Most half decent boards will support 8 Mb in 2Mb "sticks". Later ones up to 16 Mb.

Lynz is correct. Even down to the type (PC2-5300). Best check what's stamped on the side of the two slices you already have as mixing the speeds can cause issues..
As it's 4GB max, and you appear to have 2x 1 GB slices, just buy two more 1 GB DDR2's...
such as...... JM2GDDR2-6K - Transcend 1GB DDR2-667 PC2-5300 DIMM x2 DUAL C (JM2GDDR2-6K) for £30 ea. You may be able to get a few quid off if you search... Try ebuyer...
You sold those Volares yet?

Si if you go to Memory upgrades, flash media, and usb storage at Crucial.com it has pretty much everything you need to know plus you can run a scanner to tell you what type of memory you have
