Hi from Rothwell
Hi everyone
I've just purchased a Hawkeye WRX SL - I've been dying for an Impreza since my flatmate bought an 03 STI. Anyways, just turned 25 last month and bought the car yesterday.
I've been told to come to Scoobynet to read up on the cars, advice on parts etc and more importantly, meet likeminded individuals (basically, my mates are bored already of me banging on about the car and sent me here!).
I'll try and get to the next meet - I do work shifts but will try where possible to turn up and support it
Look forwarding to meeting you soon
All the best,
Lee

Thanks for the welcomes
I'm a pro photographer by trade and looking forward to setting some car rigs up!
Got a friend who runs a Subaru Performance place in Gateshead. I've some planned mods already for it - but in the new year. Then a run to Andy Forrests place for a remap.

Hi Lee.
well done on your purchase of your WRX sl Hawkeye.
a very good choice in cars of the Subaru flavour.
I hope you have great fun and big smiles while driving in a true Subaru manor.
As far as moding your car, Frosty is right it will never end, cos at the end of the world, after the nuclear bomb has been dropped. the only thing that will be left will be a Cockroach.
But it will be driving a Subaru.
When modifying your car. you will be asking and listening to advice from many. listen very carefully, as there are owners who know, there are owners who think they know and there are owners who want to know.
In the WYIOC we are a collective of all of these.
It is now your challenge to work through these WYIOCers and others Subarers from less fortunate clubs and collectives and choose your choice.
Be careful.
You have mentioned Andy Forrest.
Any one who can make and develop a 8 sec 1/4 mile scoob has got to be a good choose of your choice.
PS just a quick Hi from Bez

Hi Bez
Thanks for a great welcome - and sound advice too.
As you can appreciate, coming from a "naturally asperated" background - the whole world of turbos is quite daunting. What I can and can't do etc
My friend runs Revolution in Gateshead, and he's recommended the following for starters:
Revolution 3" bore cat back system
Revolution 3" bore de-cat downpipe
K&N panel filter
Walbro 255 fuel pump
Eibach spring kit
Single Autostyle boost guage
A pillar pod
EBC front discs
EBC Redstuff front padsFull 4 wheel alignment
Andy Forrest Remap
What do you think?

Revolution 3" bore cat back system. All exhausts are sound differences, is noise ok for you?
Revolution 3" bore de-cat downpipe De-cat good choice, much better throttle response.
K&N panel filter. I've got K&N typhoon inner wing kit, but I think in this area with K&N there is no right or wrong.
Walbro 255 fuel pump. Everyone puts one in, all can not be wrong.
Eibach spring kit. That was my 1st choice, now I'm on AST 3 ways.
Single Autostyle boost gauge. Yep
A pillar pod. Yep
EBC front discs Depends on what you want your brakes to do.
EBC Redstuff front pads. Depends on what you want your brakes to do.
Full 4 wheel alignment. Yes if you can get some Castor / camber adjusters you will get rid of the 4WD FWD under steer.
Andy Forrest Remap. That's the man for the map.
as far as springs the Eibach for lowering the car 35mm or so are good. I put these on mine at 1st the car looked so much better.
EBC brakes, red stuff pads, for me that is a no no. I've used them and did not like them. I found STD Subaru wrx were far better. I now run 8 pot calipers with 330mm performance friction rotas and performance friction 01 race pads, But it does depend on what you want from your brakes.
There is a bit of a picture of my car in japanese performance mag, on about page 14 if you want to have a look at it. (December issue)
Remember these thoughts that I have put down here are only my thoughts, I am not saying I am right or you or others are wrong.
If you carry on modding your car you will be as skint as me and have an overdraft as big as Bulgaria.
It will be good to meet you at the meets.
The WYIOCers are a great bunch of guys and girls
