Default Newbie just had a remap

I'm new to the whole scooby scene. Part exchanged my Nissan 350z for a 54reg Blobeye 2 weeks ago. Having now spent £2500 sorting the car I'm ready to do my first post. Didn't get back from scoobyworld until late otherwise I would have called into squires.

  • Bought a silver blobeye with gold wheels so the first task was to get them powdercoated Charcoal anthrecite - The Wheel Specialist (£253)

  • I then had it into the bodyshop for the rear bumper to be resprayed because someone had clearly marked it while trying to park next to it - Station Road Body Shop (£100)

  • The previous owner had taken off the STI decals from the fog light covers so they had to be replaced, also I needed some mats because the dealer binned the others - Scoobyparts (£65)

  • The car has done 63k miles without a cambelt change so a kit had to be bought and fitted - importcarparts (£220) & HDC Subaru (£87)

  • The brakes were shocking, missed a junction because they were so bad. Braided hoses, millers brake fluid and ferodo ds2500 pads were required - AS Performance (£220 + £55 + £25)

  • Not a Prodrive so I needed more power so I could feel the difference between this and 350z properly. Took it down to scoobyworld today and had the following fitted, walbro fuel pump, k&n apollo, turbo back afterburner decat system with vortex backbox then finally remapped to 334.1bhp 325lb torque - scoobyworld (£1468)

That's what I have done so far. Looking to do the drop links, anti roll bar and possibly shockers next but that can wait for a month or so.

In the meantime I now have the original subaru cat pipe and downpipe with cat to sell. Plus a K&N Typhoon induction kit with heat shield that will slip straight onto another blobeye. Not sure what price to ask or where is best to sell them? Let me know what you think.

Hope to see some of you soon.

I'll try sort some pictures today.

I'll get a couple of the engine bay because I seem to remember someone telling me that bug and blobeyes have the same layout.

It looked tidy and came in the price so I decided to let then install it. Did plenty of research on the web before hand, the general opinion I got was that it performed better because it doesn't take air from within the hot engine bay. It also meant they could strip out those plastic components from the wing which subaru fit to redirect and silence the airflow.

The Apollo doesn't sound as good as the typhoon but I wouldn't be able to hear it now anyway because of the exhaust. My lass compared going for a drive to sitting on a plane next to the engines, definitely turns heads.

I had the 300bhp model. Pictures for when I was trying to sell it are on my picasa.

http://picasaweb.google.com/m/viewer...72561807394657

My mate had an imported wrx running at sti spec, on runs they seemed very equally matched.350z dropped back on bend but caught up on every straight. The lower setup of 350z meant I could hit corners faster but had to be fully out of the corner before touching the accelerator. My new sti felt to accelerate about as quickly as the 350z and I can take corners as quick but the best part is once I can see round the corner and I know it's clear I can get straight onto the gas. Corner exit speed was much better. Since the remap the 350 wouldn't stand a chance. Straight line speed thanks to all the extra torque is incredible, still getting to know the car properly.

I'll be at the next squire meet if I'm not working, it's only 5 minutes from me.

Going fast in a RWD is an art form, slightest bump, drain or slick paint on road markings and you'd find yourself fighting to keep control. Too fast in a corner and the scooby slides a little, easing off until it catches some grip then you're away again. Too fast into a corner in 350 and the backend would swing round leaving either facing the kerb trying to spin the wheel to opposite lock or worst case you'd go backwards into a wall or ditch. Very few crash head on, mainly backed makes contact first. That's with ESP off, with it on it wasn't rotfl dangerous but it was a little too sensitive. Would engage when setting off up hill and if the wheels were on a little gravel and you set off slowly.

All was good until I came across a modified supra today. Now I need more power.

Does anyone have experience of getting 360bhp+ with a 2.5" decat exhaust system or will I definitely have to change to a 3" system?

Thanks. It wasn't me. Only had it a month, need to get the handling sorted before I put it on a track.

Not had chance to meet anyone yet.

I bought two of those "TingTongs" thinking it would be good to have lots of tread through the winter...

My 2mm Yoko's were grippier.

I used mine at Blyton, and they were hardly marked, after a dayof fun, concrete in my opinion.

for 360+ you will need to start thinking about a bigger turbo.

that will be the plan. bigger turbo but not too big, don't want too much lag. i'll have to put the k&n typhoon back on and have it remapped.

the question is, would the gains I'd get from the above be much different from what i'd get if i changed my 2.5" exhaust for a 3"?
