Hi,
I changed my Legacy GTB brakes to Impreza WRX Calipers and slotted, drilled & vented discs - 4 pot calipers at the front and two pot at the rear (my garage did the work). Last year I got bad vibrations through the steering wheel and "jerky" braking at motorway speeds (slow speed was OK) a few months after fitting. My garage tells me it is because I do not drive it every day. I had a new set of discs fitted in January and the same thing has happened. I trust my garage as they have looked after my Subaru's for the last eight years, but is this really true, that if I don't drive my car every day the pads will create high spots on the discs and I will have the same problem again in 6 months? I am at a loss to know what to do as I cannot drive it every day.

Sounds a little dodgy to me!
I suspect whats more likely to be happening is that you have a sticky caliper and it keeps getting stuck on and overheating/warping your disc. This can happen when cars sit for a little while or just when calipers are old.
Would be worth a check either way

Hi robj2502,
Thank you for your advice (apolgies for the delay in my reply). I have had the impreza calipers removed and my old GTB brakes put back on (plus yet another set of discs) until I can resolve this. It may be I will send the calipers for a re-furb. At least I now have brakes that don't vibrate all the time. Unfortunately I only drive the car at weekends so maybe Impreza four pot brakes are not for me - they do look so nice though!

HI
You wouldn't get pad deposits from not using the car , but the discs will go rusty if left outside which would give you the same feeling , I know driving the car would clean off most of the rust , but not all if its starts corroding into the disc face
Cheers Ian
