Default Brake bleeding advice - 06 WRX hawk wagon

Hi guys,
Yesterday I fitted HEL braided lines to my wagon. Pedal feels good with little travel with engine off and feels nice and firm. Nothing but nice clear fluid coming out when bled.
With engine running pedal travels about half way before the brakes start to work.. I am sure it was not like that before.
The brakes still work and will stop you but you have to have loads of travel on the pedal to do so (near the bottom)

Do I have to bleed in a specific way (did NSR, OSR, NSF and OSF) or have engine running etc?

Just a bit confused as fitted braided lines to cars before and not had this issue.

thanks,

Just bled whole system again (2 man method) and bled with with engine running (had read that can help) but no difference. pedal feels good with engine off but about half way travel till they even bite with engine running.

Anyone have any thoughts?
