Default Removing rust spot areas on wheels from down to metal pads

So my car was off the road for a while with suspension issue. Got it back and rear pads on one side then wore out quickly. I have large areas of “rust” dust I can’t wash off the rim. I haven’t tried an off the shelf cleaner yet as is worse than just brake dust. Someone recommended purple peril? Anything like this that can work?

Sounds like the metal dust has rusted and etched into the paint. B***y difficult to shift. Try green washing up pads and soap.
If nothing works, refurbishing wheels will work. About £40 each.

Bilt Hammer Korrosol should work well. I've found t's pretty powerful at shifting iron spots from paintwork and wheels, as well as staining. Although another option if it's just staining may be their Deox Gel.

Ok thanks for the tips. I have tried fairy liquid and green sponges and it removes a bit of it, but I could tell if I kept going it was going to do more harm than good. Will look at those products. Hoping for something that will lift the rust particles off. Looks like needs a refurb at moment.

Can you buy this stuff on the high street anywhere do you think? Can find it online. Price looks ok so will try it.
