Default Hawkeye WRX rear 2 pot calipers stripdown

Hi all , one of my rear calipers is seized and leaking , (red caliper 2 pot non brembo ) , i am planning on fitting new pistons and seals ,I am looking to order parts prior to stripdown , all the pistons for WRX are listed as 38mm , can anyone confirm this is correct size before I order please
I know the sensible approach would be remove and measure prior to this , but I'm away from car for a few days , thanks in advance , chris

Call Godspeed brakes they sell Stainless steel pistons for the 2 pot calipers as fitted to mine. Much better than the mild steel OEM versions

hi , yeah dealt with them on 3 occasions , first time when taking my money they were helpful, 2nd and 3rd time the guy on the counter (not sure which one of the two) didn't really want to offer any advice other than , bring everything back we will sort it but we are billing you, when I only wanted advice ? I then aired my findings on here , saying his aftersales was poor ,and he got very aggressive from behind his computer ,( cos he uses this forum to boost his business) so I wont be going back , this was about 4 or 5 years ago mind

are the pistons actually seized, most commonly we find the pads have jammed in the caliper body simply because people don't strip & clean them regularly........

This thread is why he doesn't like us !

Although we only sold him pistons and seals , and gave him advise on fitting them , he obviously didn't do them correctly then blamed us , we offered to rebuild your calipers for you , yes at extra cost , which is what i'm guessing you're implying , so yes we would have offered to do your calipers , and you just pay the difference between the parts we sell , and reconditioning the calipers properly.

The guy even claimed our stainless steel pistons rust !

Anyway , to show you we do offer FREE advise , always have done , and always will , the rear 2 pot pistons are 38mm

Cheers Ian

Lets get this right there is stainless steel and there is stainless steel some of which will rust in the correct conditions it just depends on what grade of which there are many .

I use Austenitic stainless steel in big pipe work on a daily basis, 304 is pretty garbage ( and magnetic ) 904 is probably the best and has been used in the past by chemical companies such as Beechams Glaxo .

Basically if a magnet sticks to stainless it means it has a large ferrous content and will rust .

A while back I bought a catless down pipe from miltek claimed to be 304 or 306 and it was highly magnetic and indeed it did rust on a similar note I bought a Rotated RCM turbo kit recently from AS performance and is not magnetic , so well done Alyn and Well done RCM and Invidia who actually make that kit.
It was also £40 less buying from A.S performance as opposed to £40 more from RCM
