Having had a set of mintex 1144's about a 1500 miles ago and a new set of grooved diks put on my sti type r just 500 miles ago i expected the brakes to be excellent. HOwever, i appear to have an inconsistent brake pedal.

Randomly i could feel excellent braking effect rght at the top of the pedal or just as randomly it could be a lot futher down.

This is ver disconcerting. I have had the brakes bled again today and there was a little air in the nearside front, but the problem is still not cured.

I do beleive that the fluid is dot 4 and not dot 5.1, surley this would only cause a constant spongy pedal - please can someone suggest a solution.

Many thanks

PB

Sounds like pad knock off. Have someone check your wheel bearings for excess play.

They may not be rattling around, but what you have described is definitely pad knock off and bearing play is the most likely cause.
