MY01 Front Pads

I know this type of question is always coming up, but maybe not in this particular flavour ![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
My front pads on my MY01 are about to expire. To be honest I have been very happy with the OE pads, although I have had them smoking a couple of times
. So what’s a good value road pad (no track days) or should I just put another OE set on?
Cheers,
Tim.

I am going for the Prodrive pad upgrade which IIRC are the Ferodo 2500 pads. I am going down this route really for warranty reasons, I have read that some ppl have warped disks with certain aftermarket pads so I think it is best to stick with Subaru/Prodrive pads for warranty support.

Tim,
Subaru are quoting £140+vat for the pads and around £45+vat for fitting. These are just the front ones and turn out to be Mintex but as yet I do not know what type. They are getting back to me on that one. I still find it suprising that many main dealers do not have information to hand regarding parts.

Si,
I have been quoted £130 + vat (inc fitting) for the standard pads. When I asked about the prodive pads, like your dealer details were fuzzy.
Be interesting to know which Mintex pads they are - they seem v.expensive!

Tim.

For goodness sake DS2500 are a pad you can buy over the counter!
Okay you will need to make sure you get the right size for the caliper but you certanly don't need to get them at a dealers and pay extra for them!
Warrenty issue with brke pads?! They are a consumable, they wear out... chaging the hard OEM ones for something better is not going to be a warrenty voiding move!
Try calling www.tsl-motorsport.co.uk or any of the other banner advertising companies, I'm sure they would be only to happy to quote you a better price for the pads and fitting! happy to quote a better price

I understand what you are saying but if the DS pads happened to warp the discs for whatever reason, then you can bet that the discs are not going to be covered under the warranty.

Chris,
I think it is quite a grey area, but if my discs warped with OEM pads on I would be pushing my dealer to replace the discs under warranty. It's a case of where do you draw the line, more pressure on hoses, ABS problems, I think in the end I am going to go for standard OEM pads and forget the upgrade.
